Like the guy is never prepared for his meetings, constantly has to have procedure explained to him, etc. How are ppl okay with this?

Has his victory been announced anywhere? All the sites I've looked at still show 2 polling stations yet to report, and Chu with a 700 vote lead.

How are we still waiting on polls? Did somebody hide the ballots to force a re-vote?

Perhaps there is a publication ban on them?

Still a (slim) chance Kelly could pull it out, depending on what other stations still have to report (as noted last night, one of them is apparently Kelly's home community of Winston Heights).
I know the votes have technically been cast already, but here is some DJ mojo in any event:

It isn’t representative. Farkas got 30 per cent of vote in the city. He sure didn’t have the support of 30 per cent of CP.
The CP forums are probably representative of the CP user-base, which is overwhelmingly university-educated, white-collar men aged 25-45.

Seems to me she still wanted Chu elected, but she didn’t want to be formally or publicly endorsing him. I could be wrong.

I just think it's a little offside to be blaming her when the issue no different that it was in Ward 7 for years. Ward 2 keeps voting in a representative that a lot of the people in the city loathe.

I'm sorry, what? You're comparing a kid ####er to Druh Farrell because you don't like her. Your frothing at the mouth over her over the years has been hilarious, but this is just too much.

What does that have to do with Michelle Rempel Garner?
She is the MP for Calgary Centre-North, which is pretty much right in the middle of Ward 4. The people that live here are who she represents.
I mean, I understand why she might have done it. But that doesn't make it right IMO.

She also represents Ward 4 residents in Oklahoma too.

As far as the DST referendum, I took a quick look through Lethbridge, Medicine Hat and Red Deer and they all voted in favour. The margins are basically 52-48 (or within that), I definitely didn't do the math, but I'd guess that we're sitting at about 50/50 with the southerly results at this point.

Interesting article on this situation. Keep in mind 1/3 or the population doesn't get to vote on this in Lloyd. There is also the argument that it makes sense to stay aligned with Alberta since many O&G operations on both sides of the border are aligned with Alberta time in order to coordinate with head office in Calgary.

The Saskatchewan side of Lloyd switches their clocks the same as Alberta. Living on the Saskatchewan side is virtually the same as living on the Alberta side -- no PST, daylight savings, etc. The only difference is things like your provincial taxes and car registration. Day to day, you don't really notice a difference.
If someone has to do a lot of business with people who live outside the Lloyd bubble in Saskatchewan, they might have been motivated to vote to stay on DST, but it still has the same issues with late sunrises in the winter that the other northern cities have. So, in December, you go to work and it's not quite light yet and you go home at the end of the day and it's already dark.
Also, another thing to note about Lloyd is their municipal elections are conducted on the Saskatchewan schedule, so yesterday was not their normal election day. Alberta people in Lloyd would have only been voting on the provincial ballot yesterday, so I'd expect the voter turnout to be extremely low.

Honest question - is there side of Lloydminster that people prefer to live and do business on? It seems that they have done their best to make both sides as "equal" as possible, but if someone was opening a business or buying a house, where would a local do it?
I have never actually been there, and don't see it happening anytime soon, but the border town thing is something I have wondered.

They have 72 hours after polls close to remove the signs, so they're just getting an early start so they meet the rules.

What's going on with the last two remaining polling stations in Ward 4? If there was an issue with the scantron machines, surely they could have just hand counted all the ballots by now, right?

Or brought in new machines. It's odd.
