It's interesting how Gabriel Landeskog's last contract was structured.
$6.5M the last year and $6M the three years prior and less the first 3 years with an average cap hit of about $5.5M over 7 seasons.
Still a good consistent player but you wonder if he doesn't want a bit more of a raise and still wanting to win a cup.
There's the tricky part I suppose, what's a cup worth to him or is he just going to go for the most money.
7x7 doesn't seem that unreasonable though with a good chance to win and play his whole career for one team.
I'd say he's going to go for the most money.

That's the hometown discount knowing MacKinnon will be in the $9 mil range in two years.
Could $8.5 x 7 get it done? Is there a team that would offer $9 x 7?
|
MacKinnon will probably be in the $12M range. Easily the second best player in the world. If they can get him for $9M I’d be stunned.

Hard to say. He'll be entering his 28-year-old season on a contract that takes him to 36 most likely. They won't be buying many prime years and who knows what the cap looks like or where the team is at in two years.
They might just give him the 12 to make up for the discount he's been at, but 9-10 sounds totally possible, too.

I think it will end up being in the $11 million range.

Woof!!!!!!!
At least you'll have a chance to get pick #1.
I think you've weakened every aspect of the team.

MacKinnon has publicly said he'll take less on his next deal to win with his current group. I believe we'll see around 9-10 yep.
