Leafs losing in the first round again would be pretty epic. I don't care if Corey Perry gets the game series clinching goal. Make it happen!

Obviously a bad turnover by Dermott but there’s two worse plays there:

1. Horrific goal by Campbell at that distance. That’s a stoppable shot...
2. ... made way more difficult by the defender (#22?) not blocking the shot and screening Campbell at the same time.

The turnover by Dermott is, IMO, not as bad as above.

Edit: just noticed the shot was tipped. Just horrific D I guess.

Question the first: if the Leafs lose Monday, is that worse than losing a 4-1 lead in the third period?

... Oh god I so badly hope the Leafs lose on Monday after giving up a 4-1 lead in the third period.

I'd like to think Price has his old form back and will steal it but I don't think he's as good as he once was. Campbell must be on pins and needles now, and with little experience that must be nerve wracking. It'll be a way closer game - on one hand Toronto's team will step it up with the number of big name players on their roster, but on the other hand a hot Price and a lucky bounce or two and Montreal could take it. I got Toronto 4-2 in Game 7 as skill prevails first round.

Seven straight losses for the Leafs in games with chance to end a series. This beats the Flames 6 in a row from 2004 to 2015 and ties with the Flames 7 in a row from 1991 to 2004.

Those are harsh stats, alright.
Harsh indeed.

Oof. The double Flames sandwich of futility. That lead me down a depressing rabbit hole of playoff stats.

Apparently the Flames have played the 2nd fewest playoff games of non-expansion franchises since their cup in '89 with 119(The Islanders are last at 110). The cherry on top? Not only have they played the 2nd fewest games they have the worst win% at 0.412. So that's kind of a kick in the crotch.

Anyway. The Leafs suck.

I don't really care who wins either way, but I would prefer that Montreal wins just for the Mountains of salt.

I am willing to sacrifice my perfect bracket for the Leafs to choke in the playoffs again

I'm conflicted. That might draw attention away from the Oilers' no goodness.

You’re likely lucky that you don’t have much LOL.

Montreal was lucky to win that game, they weren’t close to being the better team.

It’s a game 7, so anyone can win, but Montreal aren’t the favourite to do so.

There is a world of difference between “choking” and simply losing.

I just want the streak of no playoff wins since 2004 to stay alive.

Stupid Leafs.

And again, the sport’s leading scorer, Auston Matthews, was goalless. As was linemate Marner, and that’s now 17 playoff games for him without a goal. That’s not accidental. That’s not bad luck.
Yikes.

Leafs management can’t be happy about this performance overall as every game is more chance for injury which affects playoff longevity. They might not have to be concerned about that shortly.

Note to oilerpoligists; no matter what happens, this is what a close “could go either way” series looks like.

I don't think it would, because the whole next series between Jets and Habs we'd hear about how neither of these teams was expected to be here, but hey, remember what they did in the first round to get here?
