My thoughts are with the Snow family in this difficult time. Chris, Kelsie and their kids have been incredibly brave throughout their battle with this horrible disease and they're all heroes to me.

Like others in this thread, I lost someone to ALS a while back...a friend in his late 30s with a wife and kids, who had worked his ass off to become a surgeon. I hope desperately that it won't be too long before a cure is found for ALS, preventing more amazing people being taken away from us far, far too early.

Rest in peace, Chris Snow. A brave soul, a statistical whiz, a keen intellect, a warm and friendly smile, a good man, a model of a professional and a father.

My sympathies to the Snow family.

I recommend watching this episode of Real Sports which includes a compelling segment on their story. Interestingly, the show also features a segment on Hanaryan Singh.

Feel awful for that family. Nobody deserves to go through what they did. Chris is an inspiration who left behind a great legacy.

Damn it. Thank you Snowy for your service to the Flames, to your community, to your family.

I hope the whole organization top to bottom tries to match your determination going forward, and eventually can win a Cup in your memory.

This is absolutely devastating - really a true hero of the organization and the city as a whole. Just an absolutely horrible disease but also a great family is leaving a legacy for the world. I don't know what the Flames can do to honour him but having something in the new arena named after him and his legacy would be nice. I don't know what that would be in the meantime but even something like the zamboni named after him and have it being a continual reminder for ALS research with a donation component.

I hope the team does something special to honour him this year, on and off the ice. I’m sure they will. Hard to put into the right words feelings about someone and a family you don’t really know at all, but the way he lived with ALS was inspirational for a better way to live in general. A pretty special person, I think, and a very sad day.

Chris is an absolute hero. He lived life to the fullest while battling this disease. Class act all the way, and he leaves behind heroes in every sense of the word as well. His wife and kids are unbelievably brave. It was amazing that Chris was able to continue going about his life in spite of his disease. It does affect people differently, but most become wheelchair bound and paralyzed. I like to think that it was the combination of Chris' spirit as well as the strength and support of his family that helped him to continue living life as normally as possible in spite of this horrendous disease. My own mom died from this as well, so I deeply empathize with Chris and his family.

Had a really good friend go through a multi year demise of their spouse, brutal, takes years off the survivors lives, hardens people. And like the Snows not originally from here, they had to move back to get help from their family. Selfishly sad, I lost all of them, never coming back.

A lot of people in the public eye seem like they are performing, but he (and they) seem like really good 'salt of the earth' people. Their kid is big in the Calgary hockey scene. Hope they don't leave, Calgary needs more of them. Hope the Flames treat them right.

I hope they name a booth after him or something in the new arena.

Commemorate that man and his family!

This is very sombering news for sure. Chris is an absolute champion for how he battled this disease, and hopefully researches learned a lot from this to help battle it in the future.

Condolences to his family as it's always gutwrenching when you see young kids from a really good family lose a parent at a young age.

His family has been so remarkable through all of this. What a fight Chris has put in to keep hope for them. I hope he is at peace and for only the best for his family going forward.

I also hope the Flames organization continues to support them. I have no doubt that they will.
