I'm very happy to see Monahan in a position to drive a line. I hope that it lasts at least two games, as the outdoor game is sort of a weird anomaly for players.
That said, I think that an outdoor game is built for a guy like Lucic, and it's great that he gets a first chance to be paired with Backlund.
Finally, the third line I've been hoping for all year.

Crazy how much deeper the lineup looks with Lindholm moved to C and that first line broken up. Backlund becomes the third line C which probably is still the shut down line.
Maybe it doesn’t work, and we see things go back to normal but I’m sure glad to see this being tried. Team needed a shake up, so why not?

Interesting timing to see the newly signed Tkachuk move up to top billing, just in time for the marquis game league wise that the Flames will play until late May...against his dad’s former team.
