#Flames understandably trust in the group with all they’ve accomplished.

Not surprising ask. Our first would maybe have a 20% chance of being a top 6 forward or top 4 d. Valimaki and Anderson are the better pieces. Still too high of a price but the ask isn't unsurprising. Flames wanted a first and 2 blue chip prospects for Iginla and look what we got. If the flames do get him my guess is it's for 1st + kylington + conditional 1st + minor prospect or cap dump (frolik)

Sense is Sens starting point is multiple 1sts + one of Valimaki, Andersson, Kylington + more. Calgary extremely happy with current group. Not willing to sell the farm.

As long as the counter offer from Calgary is a roll of sock tape and a Roughnecks beer coozie where eventually they meet somewhere in the middle then I’m good.

That would be fantastic.

I don't think we should move any of Valimaki, Andersson or Kylington.

Treliving should be taking his business elsewhere, in my opinion.
Let's take a stab at Hayes while we still have time before someone else swoops in.

Valimaki is going no where, guy has 7 pts in his first 10 AHL games, plays an already sound 2 way game, dominated WHL playoffs last year. Would easily go top 10 in a re-draft, he’s off limits

1st + Kylington for Mark Stone as a rental would be a steal! If Treliving can do it, his nickname should be officially changed to Gandalf. Chances of that happening are probably less than zero. I am thinking the discussion goes towards 1st 2019 + Kyllington + 1st 2020 conditional to re-signing... I wonder, if a Flames younger forward in addition to the above is also in discussion...

At this point if prices don’t come down just trade a 3rd for Simmonds

2 1st (one conditional) klington, and frolik.

I am fine with that providing we can sign him

That’s a huge ask. I say forget it.
But Steinberg’s quote about “all they’ve accomplished” made me chuckle a little. Not much. Yet.

Hasn’t everyone been guessing that was what the offer would end up being?
I’m fine doing Kylington given that we will lose him most likely come Seattle expansion draft (Keep Hanifin, Anderson. Valimaki).
So a first this year (pick 25-27 at worse) a conditional 2nd next year (turns to first if we re-sign) Kylington, and Frolik
We get Stone, re-sign for 7-8 years, sign Tkachuk in the off-season after unloading Brodie for a pick or two, and our top 6 is locked in long term!
I’d do that deal in a heartbeat

If it costs 2 1st and Kylington then the contract needs to be signed and it better be a steal. Also would be nice if the Sens took back Neal in the trade then I would for sure do it

I don’t think Flames can make this deal.
Giving up a first should be conditional on signing if they want top prospects.
If we send them a D prospect, it should mean a longer term F prospect. Can’t be Dube IMO.
2nd or 1st if he signs, plus Kylington and Phillips? And Frolik.
That’s 2-3 blue chip assists. No?

Treliving is going to fleece Dorion at some point in the next 24 hours. It's going to be beautiful when it happens.

That is true, but with all the agent twitter crap that went on, maybe getting traded to a team he will be getting close to 20 mins ice time for his contract year may open Ottawa up.

Giving up conditional 1sts for signing a player that’s an upcoming UFA is terrible value. I hope we never fall for that.

Agreed. Kylington has been excellent the last few weeks. If we trade him I'd want a similarly young fw with equal potential, long term.

I would imagine Valimaki and Andersson are pretty untouchable. You have to give to get, but I hate the idea of trading Kylington, I just see so much upside there.
If in fact one of those guys is the ask and Treliving is willing to pay a 1st and Kylington as the framework, I wonder if it is contingent on the Flames being able to find a depth Dman to replace the roster spot.

Of course the Sens asking price is going to be ridiculously high. He might be the single best player available at the deadline that is likely to be traded in years (Isles kept Tavares for a playoff run).
However, as time runs short, they will come down otherwise they'll lose him for nothing. They have to trade him. I don't expect the deal will come today even.
