Two handicapped rosters face off for western dominance.
Then the oilers healthy line up, which is essentially equivalent to a handicapped team.

Dumb ruling IMO. No way they can find intent to injure. So at its highest it's a reckless play, by technically a first offender. And to me it's just an attempted cut off a,one the boards which didn't work out - he got there late and only got a leg. Had he gotten there in time his whole hip is in the way and there's no issue. So he gets 2 games for what should be a minor penalty.

It sucks that Gio is out. It was a dumb play by him but it does seem odd to be suspension worthy in light of other non suspensions we’ve seen. My problem is more with why weren’t others suspensions than complaint that his was.
Backlund I do hope is back soon. Concussions are so random. Do we even know he has one or is he just in protocol? Would be nice to have an update. I really do want to see how Jankowski and Ryan step up here. Curious to see how the new second line performs and what he can do there. I would guess the fourth line is not going to get a lot of ice time these next 2 games. Probably 6-7 minutes tops.

They are down some key guys for sure, but we're down more than two:
Giordano, Valimaki, Stone, Backlund, Frolik, Lomberg
3 forwards and 3 defensemen. Even though some of the guys are depth guys, that matters when you're down this many, because you have to dig even deeper into the depth charts.
Flames will go with their #2, 3, 4, 6, 8 and 9 D-men tonight. Missing any one guy... no big deal. But when you have 3 guys out and you have to dress the #8 AND 9 guy, you're digging deep into the depth charts.

With two of the Flames preeminent leaders out, will be exciting to see which players step up this weekend.

Seems that there is a different set of rules depending on which Alberta team you play for.

Agree. Wideman effect lives on.

Well, Hamonic says hi
Edit: or did you include Backlund and Frolik? I read it as defensemen at first

Having both Backs and Frolik out creates a major hole up front. Worst part is that it could be long term...

Goes back to the Great Migration of the late 1800's.
There are a ton of Norweigans, Swedes, and Danes as well...particularly in Minnesota/Wisconsin/North Dakota areas.

Opportunities.
If this team wants to get to the next level, they need some guys to take advantage of this opportunity and step up.
Mangiapane, Jankowski, Bennett, Neal, Ryan, Czarnik, Andersson, Kylington
Show us what you've got, boys

So the Dumba hit on Backlund was legal? It looked like he hit him in the face or head.
