If there is a veteran who will turn it around it’s Frolik, who has been a model of consistent play his entire career. However when you have a goalie that is sub par, good in only 1 game out of 4. You’ll be lucky to have a 2-2 record.

All I want to see in the third is some effort and preferably vets to stop making stupid or soft plays, make a game of it, they were the better team this period just aren’t getting th bounces, but I gotta admit both Backs and Frolik are irking me tonight with seemingly lazy stupid soft play.

Butterfly with paddle on the ice should never allow a goal right along the ice, deflection or not. That wasn't a hard shot and the redirection didn't alter the trajectory much. Smith should have had it. He's just fighting the puck, just like the first couple of games.

Just be steady. Meaning stop the low percentage shots and don't get caught out of the net, at the very least.

They are not skating but shouldn't be down 4.

Imo Smith has been bad but as a general rule I don't blame the goalie for a loss where his team scores 2 goals or less.

Some of these have to go in.

That is true if the other team only scores 2-3 goals. However on a night when 5 have been let in, it’s not just the offence which is the issue. Especially when he was directly responsible for one goal and should have had the last one. Smith just isn’t a goalie to rely on. In my opinion.

Even early in the game, Smith tried making long passes to covered guys, standing behind the net with the puck and dishing to his D for breakouts that fail. Putting it to the half boards to Bennett who just has a Blues guy skate through him. It simply doesn’t help.

I saw one pass he made tonight that Johnny picked up and they entered the zone, that was pretty much the only thing that wasn’t unsuccessful.

And the PK flub was a back breaker
