This may be the year you want to trade down. Great selection of talent will be available in the early to mid second round.

Scored a pair of free tickets to tonight's draft! Would be exciting if the Flames make another big trade.

The gap between talent at 20 to 50 is pretty small, so if we could drop into the early 2nd and snag another 2nd or an early 3rd I would be all for that.

But for that reason the opportunity to move down may not be there
You need a team that likes someone specific at 26

Mentioned on the radio this morning - there's a good chance that, with RJ Barrett going 3rd, a Canadian will go higher in the NBA draft than the first one picked in the NHL draft.

So...Another hockey summit?
That is pretty interesting though.

This is a good thing for both leagues. Means both sports are developing nicely in other countries.
Wish we had a rival college system to div 1 basketball in the states so we could grow our players at home more. But I also like the fact that Canadian basketball has grown leaps and bounds thanks to Vince Carters existence in Canada.

Spencer Knight hails from Darien, Connecticut (one of the wealthiest counties in America) and is heading to Boston University.
I wonder if a similar Adam Fox-like situation develops where he dictates which team he'll sign with (i.e. Rangers, Islanders, Devils). If he's one of the top goaltending prospects in many years, he may have that leverage.

Pierre just said Spencer Knight is Marty Brodeur. He has watched him for 8 years. A LOT of hype surrounding him. But could be so good. You go through all the goalies picked in the first round since 2000, and it would swear you off EVER using a 1st on a keeper, but maybe Knight is different?

I generally agree, but some guy named Carey Price worked out ok.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

Isnt that pretty much what picking in the last half of the 2nd round is for skaters anyway?
Looks like about a third of them turned out to be good nhlers with 3 of them, including the one top 10 guy in price, being vezina nominees

And an even better day when you grab him at 88!!
