It's like the passing of the 'C' on the jersey comes with the caveat of slow annual starts. I think Gio simply tries to do too much and needs to be coached to play a simpler game at times. The goaltending has vastly improved over last season but the team is still being held back by substandard team defense and turnovers. Gulutzan's challenge is to change the culture without losing confidence of the players. No small feat as this team is the cultivation of years of bad defensive habits.
