The Lightning were in the same position last year against the Rangers.
The game should be a thriller and my guess is Tampa Bay skates off with a victory due to their experience.

The NHL Threatened To Fine The Lightning If They Didn't Shut Down Their Watch Party

Quote:
The Tampa Bay Lighting hosted a very well-attended viewing party on Sunday for Game 5 of their Eastern Conference Finals series with Pittsburgh. Thousands went to the public showing (around 8,000 attended an analogous event last year), and the team had planned another official party for tonight’s Game 7, only to cancel it yesterday afternoon and encourage fans to head to a different, unofficial event.
Quote:
The NHL told Deadspin that the Lightning were only allowed to host one official event per series, and that they’d already used up their slot on the Game 5 party. But the Sharks and Blues have each hosted multiple parties during the Western Conference Finals, and sources tell us that the NHL and NBC pressured the team to cancel tonight’s event because of worries about low TV ratings.

F*** off NHL. You finally have people in Florida interested in hockey and now you;re going to try and say their team can't host a huge party for a game 7 that could end in a Cup birth (for the second year in a row) because you want a few extra thousand people watching the TV?

Seriously, f*** off.

Well NBC pays the bills so I see where they are coming from.

Terrible optics though.

And shutting down the parties would do what? Add maybe 0.01 to the total rating? NHL is often it's own worst enemy at trying to grow the game.

It is dumb, something like this could actually gain fans. Now they will end up losing a few fickle ones instead.

lol because of ratings. NBC you bunch of morons.

It is almost as if they don't understand that having Chicago, LA and NY in the east/west finals the last few years don't help the ratings because they are bigger markets. Duh SJ vs Stl and Pit vs TB will be lower ya bunch of morons!

If only the NHL was the WWE. Stamkos would take off his Lightning jersey, put on a Pens jersey and start taking line rushes with Crosby.

Stamkos is only playing tonight to show Phil Kessel who he could've had as his number one centre if he stayed in Toronto.
