Good. I'm actually glad.

I only hope the Crown is allowed to cross appeal should the ABCA not increase the sentence.

I want definitive SCC commentary on this issue.

Agreed. I think what would be great is some better information and public education. In a world of social media and incredibly popular woo peddlers, many people are being duped to the detriment of their children, or worse, are unwilling to admit they're wrong and their intuition is misguided, with tragic consequences. This romanticized notion that natural/traditional is less harmful (and more helpful!) than modern medicine. People are putting their beliefs and ideology ahead of their children's best interests.

I hope a couple things come out of this:
- better public education on serious illnesses, their early symptoms, etc and when medical help is required (including when emergency care is needed)
-better regulations and disclaimers around natural practitioners and products (claims have not been proven, they know when to hand off to a real doctor, limited scope of what they're allowed to treat , etc)
-ensuring that the infrastructure in place is sufficient to support parents and their children's medical issues - beyond the ER. 811, urgent care are appropriately resourced

I'm not going to lie though, while the Stephans represent the extreme, there is a small part of me that worries if this will result in other parents who have done the right thing, but may have made an innocent misjudgment, also get charged and jailed.

Yes. There are many swear words uttered when it comes across the screen. It makes me want to throw things at my TV but I like my TV too much to damage it.

You should try some lemongrass and wild nettle to help calm down.

David Stephan is going to be the keynote speaker at a Saskatoon Wellness expo. Terrible.

He was at the Calgary show as well. He's trying to cure psychiatric issues with "one weird trick" sort of stuff now. Of course he still has his company, True Hope, actively selling garbage to idiots. I can't believe he's still doing this sh't and people still buy it. Talk about freaking dense.

Every poster should have a "Child Killer" under it. How much pain did he put his son through before he finally died? Almost torturous.

Also every single person who attended the Calgary show should have their Alberta Healthcare suspended.

While I have a lot of problems with this scumbag, this is the biggest one. His store was selling cures to mental illnesses like Bi-polar disorders and schizophrenia. That to me is disgusting and one of the biggest reasons why these people should that sell these kind of hopes in a bottle without over sight or proof should be arrested for fraud.

They're the same kind of dipshyte con artists that traveled around selling tonics at the turn of the century that were more likely to cause serious illness to those that consumed them.

I know that we're a civilized society, but the bull whip in a public square would be a justifiable punishment for people like these.

It also sucks because there are some legitimately beneficial products out there backed by science that accomplish what they advertise. This sort of thing just helps people write of the entire field without a second thought.

The owner of health expos is super stupid....

Boycott Sobeys's sure. But I wouldn't drop ten cents at one of these shows again. The one in Calgary was just full of magic socks and bracelets with one or two legit items sprinkled in for good measure. Great place to stock up on laundry soap that super charges your clothes for expanded energy. Literally fairy dust.

Its an industry based on who has the best con. Its literally buyer beware, and if someone is a sucker enough to buy this crap no questions asked then god bless them and their bank account.

But I find it reprehensible that the industry will actively pray on desperate people with real problems with promises of quick and painless cures, without any over sight.

I think that I'm smart enough to know that something made out of the genitalia of a lizard isn't going to cure you of a bi-polar disorder, but someone desparate enough is going to spend hundreds of dollars on it.

People that take advantage of people with this shyt deserve to have every square inch of their asses kicked.

Yeah that's why I despise the guy who operates this thing. There's a lot of good that could come out of these but it's just an ongoing scam. Suckers for sure.

Sobeys has pulled sponsorship, and his bio has disappeared from the website.
