Was in reference to us potentially using the stars pick to trade up I believe.
If Edmonton doesn't lottoMAX the jackpot again they should def consider moving down

Jyrki Jokipakka after the trade: "Pretty empty feeling... I don't know what else to say."
Hopefully his mind set changes quick.

Maybe it's cause I am excessively grumpy right now and I'm reading too much into it, but that doesn't scream of excitement to join our team. I hope it's just me needing sleep and seeing something that isn't there.

I would be worried if he wasn't feeling gutted. He just went from being a part of a solid contending team playing with all of his buddies to having to go play on a bottom feeder with a bunch of guys he probably doesn't know.

I would like to caution and advise not to look too deep into his comment about feeling empty. Europeans have a different culture and some are very blunt, but that is just their culture. It doesn't mean he is going to be sour grapes when he gets here.
He will come around, as they all do. But the kid is just 24, living in the USA, playing for a contender, and now he got traded away to a Canadian club. It's a lot to take in.
Ask him how he feels when he meets all the guys, and he will be blunt again - saying he is happy.

Yep, let's trade up with EDM, get one of the Finns and then have him score boatloads of goals against them in the next decade.

It really sucks that some low level media guy reported this and Roger Millions chose to retweet it.
A player just found out he is being traded a million miles away from his current home and has to pick up and go. He has no say in the matter, it sucks. He is going from a potential cup winning team, which had excitement wrapped around it, leaving his teammates and friends to a team in a re-build.
Yes they have good gigs and that is all part of the job, and yes he will be part of a re-build, but wow give the kid a break and let him recover.
Thousands of traded players before him felt the same thing in thousands of trades, and they didn't necessary have attitude issues. Its human .

A couple games with Gaudreau and Brodano and he'll get on the Flames train. This team is going places, and they'll make a believer of Jokipakka too.

Given the disparate views on Russell, how he performs for the Stars will be one of the more interesting stories to follow through the end of the year. I generally have a hard time cheering for former Flames as I don't like to see another team get the better of us in a trade but will have no such problem in this instance.

It's almost like he has to leave a team full of his only friends in North America or something.

So, worst case scenario...
Stars sweep the first two rounds and go on to win the Stanley Cup, Kris goes on to win the Conn Smythe by scoring 7 game winners (gp17 g12 a30 p42) but Russell only plays three of eight games during the first two rounds.

I have zero problem with this being reported. It's an honest take on a situation that would really suck for him. No one should or would ever be excited to be removed from a championship caliber team at this stage of the season.
Kudos to all involved for taking a shot at doing some actual reporting instead of regurgitating tsn style sound bites over and over.

It would make for a perfect day if Hamhuis is traded for a 4th or 5th round pick.
