I'm assuming it means that it was a weak call but the stick broke so they had to call it. It's a function of the way composite sticks explode unlike the old wood sticks.

What? Lol, Froliks stick was in the players feet and tripped him up, steight on camera angle showed this, ref got it right.

Stick broke on the shot? Sure, Backlund still slashed him. In slow mo it was still a spit second of time between the slash and stick breaking, imagine how it looked real time.

Seriously guys, this is far too vancouver like whining in here.

Fun game! Lots of end to end action those last few minutes.

For a change of pace from the complaining about terrible officiating, I'm back to complain that Sportsnet West is showing a full half hour of Sportsnet Central before going to the Flames game. Was supposed to cut over at 10, but the game went long and the post-game McDavid-fest is still going strong. Pretty neat.

I guess a broken stick only counts as a slash if it's a Shark's stick.

I dont know what SN is showing you guys but Backlund broke that stick on a slash, again, had to be called.

I think I forgot my homer glasses because its sounding very canuck-y in here tonight.
He broke his stick shooting

And calling Artley, when it was already 5 on 3 is trying to be the show by himself

This is one of the most inept, biased periods of officiating I've seen in years. And that's really saying something.

OMG. Flames broken sticks just happen. Only Sharks broken sticks are from penalties. Wow. That's.....TOTAL BS!!!!

As good as Brodie is, I doubt he was playing team hockey at 3 or 4.

Backlund stuck his stick in the lane and the stick broke on the shot. It was a bull#### call

Then the ref doubled down with a bench minor because he's a prissy little bitch.

Garbage reffing, whether you wanna pin "Vancouver" on the forum or not.

Feel free to leave then if you don't like it, instead of insulting?

No comment about the kick?

I think it has to do with consistency. Just witnessed the exact same situation where Frolik's stick was slashed and there was no call. Another stick was broken for the Flames during the 5 on 3...no call. It's hard to not get angry when they're tilting the ice like that. The Hartley call was completely unnecessary when there's already a 5 on3 happening. Give him a warning. If he continues then you give a penalty. There are ways of managing the game without handing out penalty after penalty in a short period of time.
