this your first time on the internet dude? type Men's Rights Activist into google and come back after your brain is sufficiently melted into slag.
the problem is that hating GB2016 for the women is getting mixed into hating GB2016 for the terrible trailers. and the pro-Ghostbusters side is similarly split into rational and irrational, and everyone's trying to yell over each other. it's an amazing mess.
just go see it if you're interested, and don't bother if you're not. if dudes were in this movie with the same script, we'd just be treating it like another crappy 80's remake in the tradition of Robocop, Ninja Turtles, Transformers, Total Recall, etc. but none of us have even seen it so we can't even slot it in with those just yet.

And of course it has to be that men are all evil misogynists who can't stand it that their wives are watching shows aimed at them not in the kitchen baking like they should be.
Couldn't be something as simple as, you know, men don't like those shows because they don't appeal to men and as such rate them lower. No, no that's clearly not it. All the men's ratings are vengeful ratings, part of their petty attempt to sabotage all women's programs.

(I kid, I kid - but it's equally supported by the statistics, as in "also completely hypothetical")
For Ghostbusters, I thought the idea was terrible and the likely execution, once I saw the trailers - also terrible. Gender-reversing the original cast is just not funny, nor edgy, nor anything but a gimmick. It'd be like remaking Thelma & Louise as Elmer and Louis, well sure, you *could* do it, but why? That's what puzzles me, you have some of the best comedic actresses working together on a film, and the best idea you can come up with is to have them rehash something a bunch of guys did 30 years ago?
Anyway I'll eventually see it, since it is getting some good reviews. Maybe it's not "Ghostbusters meets the Three Stooges" as it appears to be in the trailers. Maybe. But probably not.

I suspect it's because a lot of couples watch female-oriented shows together, and the men are watching out of duty and not free will. They'll give Gilmore Girls a low rating because they dislike it and they're pressured to watch. Women won't give Halo: Nightfall a low rating because they simply won't watch it.

Let's all be honest here. Gilmore Girls wasn't great, but it wasn't not good.

She's the same thing in every movie she's in. She's not funny because she's boring and uncreative.
And best comedy actress of the decade. I would watch Tina Fey reading a manual that describes descaling a coffee maker and it would be funnier then the last few movies that McCarthy has been in.

This movie would have been great with Tina Fey in it. The problem isn't that they cast women in the film, but they miscast the film with grating actresses whose comedy chops are more suited for 12 min skits than a 120 min movie.

That depends entirely on your tolerance for fast-speak.

True, and I have a 20 minute tolerance limit, whereby I would go find something else to do. But what a ride those 20 minutes were...

Tina Fey would have been a perfect casting choice. I think she's someone who would have fit right in with the original cast.

I watched Tina Fey's movie where she was a war correspondence in Afghanistan, and I thought she was exceptional, because she's so good at subtle humor in scenes where the world is absolutely falling apart on her.

Casting Mcathy and Jones was likely a mistake. They are the same loud comedy. Switch in Fey for Mcarthy and the movie probably gets significantly better.

Gilmore Girls was horrible for one reason and one reason only... It introduced the world to Melissa McCarthy.

Movie is apparently going to be banned in China because of the supernatural themes of the movie. China has become a pretty crucial market for more and more movies when it comes to making a profit, so this has to hurt.
Edit: How could I leave out the best part? It was banned, but the alternate title in China is....Super Power Dare Die Team lol

Wonder if this is a policy to prevent Japanese influence from entering the country. Banning anything "supernatural" would pretty much result in any Japanese Manga being banned.

Deadpool has shown that isn't an impossible obstacle to overcome. But that movie had the support of the misogynists, so maybe that's the important market.

No that's a journalist doing Google translate or being an idiot. The name 捉鬼敢死队 is more accurately translated as Ghost-Catching Kamikaze Team. The first two characters are literally "Catch" and "Ghost" so I have no idea where he came up with "Super Power".
