Iginla was never surrounded with consistent drafting, most of our picks were released prior to playing 10 games in the NHL. No one was complaining about Iginla's leadership in 2004. Imagine if we could have actually had a good draft pick join the team every 2-3 years during his tenure...

2004 was all about Darryl Sutter's leadership and I don't see what drafting has to do with the fact that Iginla had become bigger than the team late into his tenure with the Flames. Lets not forget that a lot of draft picks were traded to surround Iginla with a team that could win now as it felt like the Flames never had a 2nd round pick for a decade.

Of course, being paralyzed and unable to make a decision is no cause for firing in Edmonton however. In fact, it qualifies one to be both general manager and owner.

Bold moves? MacTavish will get to that, as soon as he finishes smoothing over his own mistakes as general manager.
