Nothing changed until he was traded as Hartley would have been fired last season if Iginla was still a Flame and this team would have been treading water with another new coach. Doesn't mean Iginla was a bad guy or cancer but he had become so engrained in the locker room culture that nothing could change until he moved on.
Not to be an apologist, although I am one. Taylor Hall had what, 5 first round picks added to his teams roster each and every year after he was drafted? They were just simply picks that were spoiled, didn't develop into what was expected (although there is still a small window for them).

Iginla was never surrounded with consistent drafting, most of our picks were released prior to playing 10 games in the NHL. No one was complaining about Iginla's leadership in 2004. Imagine if we could have actually had a good draft pick join the team every 2-3 years during his tenure...

2004 was all about Darryl Sutter's leadership and I don't see what drafting has to do with the fact that Iginla had become bigger than the team late into his tenure with the Flames. Lets not forget that a lot of draft picks were traded to surround Iginla with a team that could win now as it felt like the Flames never had a 2nd round pick for a decade.

Has this been posted?

Spector's attack on the Oilers
Turd

Don't often see "turd" in an opening line

Of course, being paralyzed and unable to make a decision is no cause for firing in Edmonton however. In fact, it qualifies one to be both general manager and owner.

Bold moves? MacTavish will get to that, as soon as he finishes smoothing over his own mistakes as general manager.
Pretty wild to see a writer go postal in Edmonton, rare.

Not anymore - pretty rampant this season actually. They may be a bit late to the party, but they've been carving the organization pretty good this year.

I think the Edmonton sports media have realized how bad their fanboy cheerleading has made them look with their peers in the industry. Now they feel betrayed. It's definitely personal at this point.

Wouldn't be surprised if the Oilers banned Spector from the arena after an article like that. He's been hard on them all season.

It's nice to see their media finally see that team for what it is... a joke. Top to bottom, a complete joke of an organization, run by a bunch of arrogant morons.

Not just the Edmonton media. The national media, sans Dreger, is hammering them now too.

They all hope you'll forget they were cheerleading for this team for years.

He's right in that if they are going to trade a guy like Hall the organization should not let it be done by McLoweish.

Wonder how much he's getting paid to make this speech? Maybe an executive position opening up for him.

Eakins to fans "You need to be patient"

The one to find the solution is MacT. 'He'll get it done.......I know he will'.

Wow this speech is pretty sad. Could he be any more transparent in this speech? "Please hire me anyone? I promise I won't throw anyone under the bus if it doesn't work out. Anyone? Please! Pretty please!!!"

The amount of sucking up to MacT here is astounding. MacT can do no wrong, apparently.

In a perfect world people would tell the truth; "The bottom line is that I wasn't ready to be an NHL head coach let alone turn around this mess. If anyone is going to turn this around I have 100% confidence he's not currently employed in this organization."
