Ya what would have happened to all the Scottish expats if they became independant, would they have had to give up their UK passports? That alone would have probably swung the vote

Yes.
And if a referendum ever came up which is not impossible as far as I am concerned it would be none of my business to vote on the future based on my beliefs as a current outsider. Why? Because I care for my country of origin enough to mind my own business and let the people decide.

No it doesn't, but it also means that more likely than not they won't be around for the consequences of the vote. The line had to be drawn somewhere and I think for something of this magnitude it was correct.

That actually reminds me, I recall that some parties in Northern Ireland were pushing for an Irish Unification referendum for 2016 and no later than 2021. Do you know if that is something still in the works?

Never heard it mentioned and I can't see it happening anytime soon.
Despite what the media might have you believe, I honestly believe the majority of people really aren't that bothered. They just wanted peace, and the major issues of equal opportunities and civil and cultural rights addressed. Their referendum was The Good Friday Agreement which exposed and isolated the bigots.

That 45% of my countrymen have been nothing but vile to the people who wanted to stay part of the union. Calling us traitors, scum, saying we aren't Scottish etc.
I always think of it from the other side too. Would they be compassionate ? No they would still be singing out in the street, wrecking union jacks climbing all over war monuments like they done before the vote results

Don't believe everything you hear laddie.

The Scottish Police Federation has issued a statement accusing the media and no campaigners of exaggerating the extent of aggression deployed during the Scottish referendum campaign.
Brian Docherty, the chairman of the federation, said in the statement: "The referendum debate has been robust but overwhelmingly good-natured.

Besides, they also had something to say about the treatment of probably Scotland's top sports star.

Andy Murray's declaration of support for Scottish independence provoked such vitriol on social media that police have been forced to condemn the online attacks.Police Scotland said that the abuse directed at Murray was "vile, disgusting and distasteful" with one user even referencing the Dunblane Massacre in a message.
Murray was a pupil at Dunblane Primary School in 1996 when a crazed gunman entered the school and killed 16 children and their teacher.

IMO, good call Scotland. The head wins over the heart.
I know my Scottish friends will be sad, but based on what I've been seeing and reading this is probably the best outcome for all involved.

Scotland is better off remaining part of the UK. I won't elaborate much, but its for the same reasons that it would be extremely stupid and laughable of Quebec to separate.

Even though they did not secede, I hope for Scotland's sake they get a much bigger say at the government table now and that their needs are met equally. I'm pretty sure the yes voters could live with that.

I wonder how increased Scottish "rights" and say at the table will affect Wales and NA?
I wonder if they will want increased say as well.
