Except this team was doing poorly even before any call-ups were made.

According to Loubardius a virus is running through the Abbotsford Heat dressing room.
Wotherspoon was scratched from the last game becasue of it.
Also mentioned Potter is dealing with it.
The virus is what hit Baertschi and is keeping him from playing against Carolina

Hartley confirms.

Sven Baertschi (virus) did not skate this morning and will miss tonight's game.
"Funny virus. It’s in the minors also. Spooner and Potter got the same thing," Hartley explained. "He was kind of swollen and everything. It’s getting better but not to a point."

Hope it doesn't hit the Forward ranks.
Adirondack is down to only 12 forwards after Reinhart's recall.

I flew back home a few weeks ago and Greg Joly ('74 1st rounder) was on the flight. He lives in Glens Falls and did exactly that. Drove across the border and then flew west.
Great guy by the way. Told me a ton of great stories.

So could anyone who's watching the team down there give me a quick lineup with all the injury recalls and guys in and out of the lineup? Just curious what the depth chart looks like at the moment and who's getting the biggest minutes.

I have watched all but 2 games this year. There is good depth front and back along with some slowly improving concerns on goaltending. I have to give credit to Huska and Gill. The forwards are still very deep despite all the call ups. Nothing perfect, flashy or fancy about the D core, just hard honest work. Culkin doing well on the PP, seems to be in the right place at the right time. Yonkman is a big solid defender but top grades have to go to Cundari, Spooner and Potter. Although Spooner missed one, in the last 3 games, the 3 have logged big key minutes and deservedly so.

Thanks Lobster! It actually makes me happy that Cundari is still playing some good hockey, he just hasn't really broken the barrier between being an AHLer to at least a 5/6/7 NHL defenseman. Also glad that Wotherspoon is still progressing, that is huge for the Flames.

Since returning from injury, Cundari has been a bit better. Not as many defensive lapses. Still not as good as he should be if he is to become an NHLer down the road. I still have him behind Potter and Yonkman amongst the veterans.

I wasn’t ranking the players, simply stating my observation. But if I had to rank them, I would totally disagree with you!.

I'm not criticizing you or your opinion, I just have a different one. It's one of those things that different people can see different things when evaluating the same content. It doesn't mean one is more right or more wrong. Just a different take is all. I thought Kulak was playing a lot better than some of the other guys still in Adirondack, Cundari included, yet he's in Colorado now.
On an unrelated topic, Poirier is playing for Adirondack in much the same manner that Gaudreau has been for Calgary. Noticeable every time he steps out on the ice and always dangerous. Such a good player.

Am I correct in assuming that Potter, Yonkman and Cundari would all have to clear waivers if they were called up to Calgary?
I wonder if one of them might be a better option than Diaz... Problem is, teams are so desperate for defensemen at the moment that I think someone like Potter would be claimed.

All of them did clear waivers and I'm positive re-entry waivers were eliminated. I could be wrong though.

you are not. Re-entry waivers were eliminated in the last CBA, so they could call them up without any problems. They only have to pass waivers when they go down again. Potter just recently cleared though, so there's a 30 day window for him where he's waiver exempt I believe.

Potter would be exempt for 30 days only if he plays less then 10 games in the NHL during that 30 days. The rule is that any player who clears is considered clear for 30 days or 10 NHL games.
If he plays 9 games in 30 days, he can be sent back to the AHL without any additional waivers.
If he plays 10 games in 29 (or less) days, he has to be put back on waivers.

Yonkman isn't on an NHL contract either, he's on an AHL one. Can't be called up.

not sure if this anything more than idle speculation but hearing that Kulak might go back to the WHL if the Giants trade his rights to a playoff contender

What does that mean for the flames do you think? A "Ferland" type situation? I'm confused about the ECHL assignment as he was out best defender at rookie camp and penticton
