I took a vine of the initial move on that first Gaudreau assist where some people still can't figure out what happened if you want a different take on it.
The Calgary Flames rookie has turned Minsk Arena in Belarus into his own personal playground over the last week or so, and he saved his most impressive performance for the final game of the preliminary round. His three assists all were the result of phenomenal stickwork, and his goal - which put the U.S. ahead 4-3 early in the third period - was a thing of beauty.

Looks pretty clear that he spun and passed the pack between the German's legs, just missing both feet and the side of the net.
Ridonkulous.
Impressed that the German goalie actually seemed to track that and didn't begin his slide across to the other side, following JH, but instead following the puck. Didn't help him ultimately, but at least he knew where he was being beaten from.
He did it all year at school, and I expect nothing less from him here. He's one of the best players in the country and he's just being Johnny doing 'Johnny things'. Everyone thinks he's really small but he uses it to his advantage. No one really hits him and he spins off guys like I've never seen."

I'm so unsure whether or not they will make him start in the A or he will get a chance to go straight away in the NHL. I kind of hope he's the first callup and sticks, just to make sure he gets the confidence and everything, either way, I'm so excited for next season!
All these Johnny Gaudreau gifs is bringing vomit up to my tonsils. My brain actually can't comprehend half of what he pulls off. His spinning gives me to nausea.
“He really sees the ice well; he’s really deadly on this big ice with time and space,” said U.S. captain Justin Abdelkader, who scored twice off Gaudreau assists, the second goal in the third period being the game winner. “It’s a big tournament for him with training camp next season (with Calgary) and I’ve seen him get better with more confidence.”

“This is my first opportunity to work firsthand with Johnny and he’s a very, very impressive talent for the United States,” said U.S. head coach Peter Laviolette of Gaudreau. “Not just what you see on the ice, but he’s a terrific person off the ice. On the ice, he displays a tremendous amount of talent with his offensive skills.
“He’s a very smart player and battles and competes very hard for his size. It’s been my pleasure to get to work with a guy like that,” Laviolette said.

“He’s one of those guys you don’t like playing against as a defenseman,” said Seth Jones of his 2013 U.S. National Junior Team colleague. “His feet are quick and he can turn you inside out. He played great for us tonight.”
