They are apparently building a new entertainment and studio up by COP... if anything turn it into a talk show. Weekly updates, news around the league.

Edit: can't read well

I'll call up Gillis...do you think he's looking for a job?

I'll do the sound and engineering
Heard some sound stages and what not were going in, forget where but it could be there. Sadly I do not live in Calgary and I'm not sure if CPTV would cover my current wages but it would be fun. With Blackmagic having everything under the sun, including new studio cameras for $1200 it wouldn't cost much to do. Not like years ago when a production switcher ran $350,000.

Not enough AC in the world to keep Gillis cool under studio lights. I'll pass.

The talk has moved on to Bob Nicholson and Trevor Lindon.

Default Mike Gillis Fired. Press conference 11:30 AM MT Wed.

“@FarhanLaljiTSN: I'm told Trevor Linden will officially be named the #canucks President tomorrow.”

“@FarhanLaljiTSN: I'm also told there is a buyout provision in Gillis' contract whereby the #canucks only need to pay half of the 8 million remaining on deal

“@FarhanLaljiTSN: There is a similar buyout provision in Torts deal IF he is also let go at some point. #canucks”

I thought the reports were saying that Nicholson literally just had to cross his T's and dot his I's?

I think no one has any idea what is actually going on. People are hearing names from other people and then repeating it which build steam, goes around the train of reporters and insiders and gets back to the first guy who then says "Hearing lots of chatter now. Purple monkey dishwasher."

Lol, modern-day sports reporting.

What reports were those?

I heard people saying it made sense but must have missed those saying it was a done deal.

Everything I heard/read sounded like Feaster was much closer to being a done deal and Nicholson made sense based on the timing of him leaving but that was speculation.

Although as Blaster said there has been some interesting "reporting" through all this.

According to a source close to the situation, former Hockey Canada president and CEO Bob Nicholson is at his home in Penticton, B.C., this evening and is negotiating with the Vancouver Canucks to become the next president of the team. It’s expected he’ll accept the job and there is mounting speculation that he’ll name former Canuck legend Trevor Linden to replace Mike Gillis as the team’s GM.
Nicholson did not respond to a voice and text message left for him by thn.com Tuesday night, but a source said he has been negotiating with Francesco Aquilini, the chairman of the Canucks, about becoming team president.
As soon as Nicholson announced his resignation from Hockey Canada last week, NHL teams were reportedly immediately in hot pursuit of him. He had reportedly already turned down the presidency of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment before the job was given to Tim Liewicke in 2013, and there is speculation that the Washington Capitals quickly made him an offer, which he also turned down.
It’s believed Nicholson most covets the Canucks job because he is a native of British Columbia and wants to spend more time with his family. It would be a perfect fit for the 60-year-old Nicholson, who is said to be more interested in new challenges than a big salary. It’s believed the Capitals offered Nicholson substantially more than the Canucks would pay him, but his heart is apparently with the Canucks.

Interesting I hadn't heard that and everything I heard had Linden as a potential president not GM.

Still seems that is wasn't dotting I's and crossing T's but I find Campbell to be a useless d-bag so may be the fact that he is reporting that has me not really believing it.

Does Nicholson have any credentials besides picking all-star team filled Team Canada's?

Like no offense to the guy but it didn't seem like his previous gig was THAT challenging. You could get Canada's best players on a wall and throw darts and have equal success... if that was even his role, not sure haha.

He was the President of Hockey Canada. So it was more than just the mens team every four years. Every Under 18, every WJHC, every WHC, every Olympics, every Woman's world championship. It may have been more the amount he had to do than anything else that was impressive.

He totally revamped the way the then-Canadian Hockey Association operated and turned it into the super organization, envied and copied by many, that it is today.

He put into place a system that was able to identify the best players and coaches and have them work together to create success not seen by any other country.

I don't think you want him to come to your team to pick the players but to create that organization that operates at a high level that draws in the best GM's and coaches and gives them the best situation to have success. Hard to argue he hasn't done that with Hockey Canada.

That would bug me actually. The connections Nicholson would have with various scouts, and organizations, and the inside track on the up and coming talent would give the Canucks a huge leg up on the competition, at least for the up coming 3-4 years.

Not something I want the Canucks org to have at their disposal.

If Trevor Linden is named GM I will giggle my butt off. Respectable guy but he has zero experience in a management role. Even Nuey and Yzerman apprenticed under somebody first.
