lol, they definitely need to tweak that for next season. It's slowing the games down at times and it's kind of lame seeing managers slowly walk out towards the ump while the cameras pan to the dugout to show one of the coaches on the phone to see if they should challenge it or not.

Love the opening paragraph from the Rays Blog.
"It turns out that there is more than one way to lose to the Toronto Blue Jays. I know you were wondering. I know you thought that maybe the trick to losing to Toronto was to give up a bunch of home runs, and that no other way would do. Not so."

And a GIF from the blue jays blog

One thing I didn't like was Molina talking Madden into letting him complete the eighth inning. When you are clearly dazed by a foul ball off the dome, when the umpire has to call the trainer out for another look, and when said trainer wants to pull you, the manager shouldn't even be listening to you. I know Buck was praising MLB's advances in concussion protocol, but Madden should have listened to everyone but the guy whose head was just scrambled.

I would suspend Maddon for a game or two for that. Just to send a message.

Yeah, the trainer was looking at Madden like he wanted to yank Molina out of there. Of course the player is going to say he's okay, but you can't listen to him in that case, you have to take him out of the game.

Any idea why the Rays didn't review the play where Lawrie was clearly off the 2nd base when he catches the ball for the force out? Is that not a reviewable play?

All I can figure out was that their bench coach couldn't get a conclusive Yes or No to move forward with a challenge when he was on the phone. Was funny, the one call that they should have challenged that would have gotten overturned was one they passed on. Ha! Stupid Rays!

^^^I don't remember what inning that was but I do know the Rays used up their one challenge with a close play at 1st, it was Lawrie's infield single in the 4th inning. He was called safe and the Rays challenged it and lost.

Looking at that Pillar dive...i think he took flight a good 15-20 feet from the plate. That is awesome.

Lineup for tonight is similar, but a couple changes: Thole will replace Navaro and catch for Dickey. Francisco hits 6, Lawrie 7, Thole 8 and Gose 9.

Isn't the only change Thole?

I didn't see the play, but if it was the first half of a double play, no that is not reviewable. I'm guessing that they realized that if the neighbourhood play could be reviewed, games would take six hours to complete.

Maybe I'm wrong (probably), but didn't Lawrie bat 6th last night?
If not, then yes, only one change

Okay, I'm an idiot, Lawrie hit 7th last night. That's what happens when you're switching back forth furiously between hockey and baseball games

Shi Davidi @ShiDavidi
AA on possibility of #BlueJays adding payroll at deadline: “We need to be playing well at that time and we’re still very far away from that”
If they are close at the trade deadline they better find a way to add an arm or two to make a run. We deserve some playoff ball.

Again? An EE homer makes it 4-2 Jays.
