It's so great that he celebrates with his brother. What a great moment!

Bilodeau's run was the best I've ever seen in this sport. Magical evening.

I needed them to watch moguls or I would have been lost. That caveman dude throwing front flips looked great but hearing where he was off on his turns made his scores make a little bit more sense to me.

The Netherlands is so weird. They've won 86 Winter Olympics medals ever, and 82 of them are from Speed Skating.

Its a canal-centric country. Skating is a huge cultural piece for them. Makes sense.

Yeah, you definitely have to give it to them. We've become to Winter Olympics what Australia has to Summer Olympics.

Hopefully we keep pushing in the Summers as well, where sometimes it still feels like the old days.

I know they have mountains in Quebec, but I always found it strange that our best skiers are from the opposite side of the country to where all the best hills are. You'd think kids from BC and Alberta should be right up there in terms of participation.

How are the Dutch seperating themselves from the rest of the nations in speed skating? They are just killing it so far.

It may have to do with the Dutch being the tallest people on Earth?

It basically happened because that's where the best coaches were, so the program developed there faster and better (still, western Canadians Jenn Heil and Kriti Richards were far and away the two best women Canada had for a decade). Out west the mountains provided a greater range of activities for ski clubs so there's more racing while the smaller Quebec mountains tended to push towards freestyle. With COP having a more permanent moguls set up you're likely to see more Albertans working their way through (in addition to more younger skiers now wanting to follow in the footsteps of the people who are inspiring them on TV).

Different type of skiing though.

For freestyle you only need a small hill. Skiers from Onatrio, Quebec, etc can easily participate. In the offseason, they use lakes, trampolines, and foam pits I think and you can do that almost anywhere.

For bigger mountain skiiing like downhill, Super G, Giant Slalom, etc Canada relys on the Western Canadian skiers since the mountains for training are way bigger. Unfortunately, Canada has been on a massive medal drought in those events.

After you get to a certain level, it doesn't matter where you're originally from anyways since you'll be travelling and training elsewhere.

Um, sorry guys, but the best skiers in the world do not ski in the olympics. They're skiing out of helicopters in Alaska. If you want to see the best in the world, you have to watch movies.

The reason Quebec produces more mogul skiers than the west is that the skiers out west are skiing pow and skiing their way up backcountry peaks, not riding down fields of bumps.

Any idea on when we can catch the medal ceremonies? Hearing the Canadian anthem be played on foreign soil is always one of the best parts of watching the Olympics
