For obvious reasons, i have taken much more interest in following the prospects this year. With limited experience i am a little unclear of what expectations should be for prospects reaching the NHL. I understand that all situations are unique (injuries, physical readiness and etc) but what is the (fan's) expectation of an above average prospect reaching the NHL? Or, how many years do you expect a player to be in the AHL before getting called up?
If Jano and/or Poirier went pro next year, when would you expect them to be in the NHL full time? 2015, 2016, 2017?

He's making up for his first pointless night in the last 15 on Friday, and only his third pointless night of the season.

It depends entirely upon what you consider an "above average prospect", and also on which prospects specifically you have in mind. They all develop a little differently.

Jankowski will not turn pro next year. He is only a month older than Monahan, and is only just now playing in his second season of elite-level juniour hockey. Last year, he made the jump from Quebec high-school prep hockey to college, and was one of the youngest players in the NCAA. Don't expect him to look to turning pro until 2015 at the earliest. Even then, because of his late development, he may opt to spend all four years in college.
I think that Poirier is a good bet to turn pro next year, and if he does, I also wouldn't be surprised to see him make the team out of camp. With his skill set, size, attitude, and the very important fact that he looks to be improving at an accelerated rate, he should be looking like a NHL regular by the 2015–16 season. Just a hunch, but I feel like he is going to be a fantastic player.

the chance of him turning pro after this season are pretty much 100 percent - he's a December birthday, so he'll be AHL eligible next season.

You also want to look at their situations...
3 of those guys play for London. None of them lead the team (Horvat does lead in PPG). Domi is 6th on the team in scoring
Poirier has 10 more points than his closest teammate
Klimchuk plays on a crappy team that has only scored 59 goals - he has been involved in 44% of them

BC's game is live streaming for free today: http://www.bceagles.com/allaccess/?media=409881
Johnny already has 2 goals just past the halfway mark of the first.
EDIT: Johnny to Billy. 3-0 BC. 2G 1A for Gaudreau, 1G 1A for Arnold.

Poirier with an assist and a shorthanded goal. He leads the entire CHL in shorthanded points.

4 point games for Gaudreau (2G/2A) and Arnold (1G/3A) this afternoon as Boston College crushed Army 11-0.
Johnny was the first star of the game and Arnold was third star.
A 7 point weekend for Johnny and 6 points for Arnold. I'm going to go out on a limb, and predict Johnny gets named Hockey East Player of the Week.

It's going to be tough to pick a featured player for tomorrow's #Flames Future Watch Update. Quite a few strong performances this week.

I actually hope it is Arnold. He doesn't get much fanfare it seems, but is very deserving of it. He is perhaps the most underrated prospect the Flames do have - nearly a PPG in the NCAA playing in all situations, and barely a mention of him at any time.

I remember being impressed with a certain player I didn't recognize in the prospects camp. Every time I checked who wore that # it was Arnold.
I think we wore 92 or something...?

I wouldn't mind Klimchuk finally getting some recognition for that hat trick he scored earlier in the week.

In fact, it became a lengthy discussion in the technicality of a natural hat-trick I'm pretty sure.
