I wish this trade was just Jones for Tanguay.
Not a huge deal either way but SOB is a brutal player and we are taking on an extra year at 2 mil whereas Sarchy only had this season left. I guess somebody needs to be here next year and he can fight a little to protect some of the kids. With Wotherspoon and Ramage turning pro this year and Sieloff, Kulak and Culkin next year hopefully we don't need him for too long.

The Flames don't have any assets that will see us on the end of any "slame dunk" trades. Moving out assets, getting younger and bigger on some "chances" is the best we can expect with what our current situation is. If this is the reaction the moves the Flames will be able to make get, fans around here need to lower expectations.
The Flames chose not to go into a rebuild 3 years ago when assets could have been leveraged for slam dunk futures. Sucks management didn't and chose to ride these ponies into the ground, but that's what happened. Feaster just took a good gamble with moving out some of our worn down horses, and there are outs if things don't go well.

The way I see it...
Ignore Sarich/SOB, MEH...
We trade a potential buy out for a potential buy out. At least we have upside. Colorado? Only downside. In a year we will really know winners and losers in the trade. We could knock it out of the park and have a solid #2/#3 RW. Or not much and the dude can be gone. At least giving ourselves a chance to improve. Tanguay? Improve? Hah, he was a sucky non-factor last three weeks. Just like in Montreal, just like in Tampa.
Good trade Feaster.

Tanguay will have a good year with the talent in colorado. That being said, I give him 2 years before the Avs dump him for the exact same reason we did: too soft, no heart, attitude problems. He's repeated this pattern at almost every stop in his career. For whatever reason, he doesn't seem to be a particularly self-motivated individual.

Furthermore, I believe Jones will be a good 2nd/3rd line right winger who has all the intangibles this team needs more of. He's a stop gap until the draft of this and next year brings us the talent that makes us a contender. We all said we were 3 years away from being competitive again, so why are we worried about his contract?

I would keep Cammalleri until the trade deadline at least this year for leadership and veteran savvy. He really tried to put to be the captain once Iginla was traded last year.
Although, if Cammy gets traded for a nice return I wouldn't complain either.

There's a good chance SOB doesn't even make the Flames depending on the moves moving forward. Giordano, Brodie, Wideman, Butler, Cundari, Smith with Breen in the mix.
His cap hit is bit high but if he can bounce back he should be a decent player. In the end we won't be a cap team for few years anyways so really doesnt matter.

So as of right now our lineup would look like this:
Cammalleri-Backlund-Hudler
Baertschi-Stajan-Jones
Glencross-Reinhart?Horak?-Stempniak
McGrattan?Bouma?-Jones?-Jackman
Brodie-Giordano
Wideman-Cundari
O'Brien-Butler
MacDonald-Berra?Ramo?
*shudder*
As much as I don't want to dip too much into the UFA pool, I can't imagine this team winning more than 10 games all year with that group.

Don't think Butler or Smith will be around in Calgary going forward. Good bet the puck movers will be Wideman and Brodie and Gio , with Breen Cundari and O'Brien filling in the rest of the D slots barring any more trades on D. I can see Wotherspoon being the call up guy . Just hope that a killer instinct develops on the D-corps to protect the goalies more and make those who crash our goalies pay for their trespasses.

I like talking hockey, so I opened up an account on HFBoards. I thought I would discuss this trade with fellow hockey fans however all the comments are "lol Feasters dumb", "Flames r stupid." Im never leaving the comfort of CP again!

Other than losing the lottery, that team is a shoe in for 1st overall pick next year.

Hfboards including the flames board on there is just brutal. The quality of discussion is like wandering into a local bar where the 5 loudest mouth homers from each fanbase have a couple beers in them and are collectively trying to have a discussion.

I just wanted to talk the trade. It seems like both the Avalanche and Flames fans think the trade is mediocre but I cant understand why other teas fans who know nothing about the two teams come in and make fun of the trade. Oh well Im back on CP and I will wipe that HF experience from my memory!

You can tell it's mostly kids on that forum. Right up there with CDC for quality.

The sooner we leave our butlersoft image, the better. Trade him for a 5th rounder.

Sounds like Jones is looking forward to leaving Sacco Denver behind to start fresh.

Yeah I was over there too, took me fifteen seconds to lose thirty IQ points due to the drivel posted there. That place is to hockey sites as 4chan is to the internet. Total cesspool of ignorance. I should just wipe my account there, but now and then I enjoy baseless abuse.
