There is a three hour block with HNIC games and that makes the probability of the second game being pre-empted less likely. However, it has happened a few times though where a long pre-game ceremony on HNIC or just a long game has pre-empted the second game. It is ironic, one of the times a Flames game was pre-empted on HNIC was when they also hosted the Detroit Red Wings.
