Spokane getting killed in the shots but winning 2-1 (15-41). Definitely want to be playing Spokane over Tricity! (hate tricity...)

One would think the preference would be Spokane. But this is something I never really understand but do it all the time. If Spokane wins, there obviously the better team to win a 7 game series. There getting it done some how. With the shots that lopsided I'm guessing the goalie?

Wotherspoon with the assist on Portlands insurance goal! Also Spokane apparently has 57 shots in the third...
9 Minutes left, Portland vs Spokane?

Tri-City with two quick goals, outshooting Spokane 48-17 with a few minutes to go. 3-2 tri.
Still 2-0 Portland, about six minutes to go.

Portland wins and Kamloops goes nuts, if you can trust the Winterhawks PBP.

It's not quite that bad...just a bit of a scrum at the whistle.

Please be Portland vs Edmonton in the final. I want to trek north and see a game or two of Calgary prospects competing for WHL supremacy.

Also, even if not for Sven, I'd be cheering for Portland based only on those nasty Oilers logo jerseys the Blazers are wearing (or wore) that is on the front page of whl.ca. I don't care if they used to be owned by the Edmonton Oilers. That's just nasty!

Well the Winter Hawks were the Edmonton Oil Kings before they moved, so you can't win. Best just to forget about peripheral nonsense.

Actually, I thought the Edmonton Oil Kings became the Kooteney Ice. Then, a few years later were re-introduced into the WHL.
EDIT - Nevermind, I'm way out to lunch haha http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portland_Winterhawks. The Kootenay Ice used to be the Edmonton Ice before they moved to Cranbrook in '98.

Yup. Tri-City is a good team. Only better Western team than Portland.
Tri-City has the better defense IMO, but Portland's gets involved in the offense a lot more...two excellent puck moving D and solid 2nd/3rd pairings. Baertschi/Noebels/Rattie/Morrow/Pouliot would be a handful for any team.

You could probably trace 80% off all WHL clubs back to to Edmonton. They have had a lot of failed WHL ventures in that city.

Is there any way to watch these games on Bell TV now that we are down to the later rounds?

should be an interesting matchup between Tri-City and Portland - could easily be another 7-game series. I think the key will be how the teams can neutralize each other's top lines.
Regular Season Hughesman-Shinnimin-Holland: 359 points (133+226)
Regular Season Baertschi-Noebels-Rattie: 249 points (100+149)
Playoffs Hughesman-Shinnimin-Holland: 44 points (15+29)
Playoffs Baertschi-Noebels-Rattie: 57 points (20+37)
While looking at the RS numbers of the Winterhawks top-line you have to consider that Baertschi missed 25 games with injury and his NHL-callup, while Noebels only joined the team mid-season and only played 31 games for Portland. So over 72 games, they would have been better than Tri-City's top three once again, like in the playoffs. Anyway, those are pretty ridiculous numbers for both top lines.
I have a feeling that the Winterhawks have more secondary scoring (Ross, Pouliot, Morrow, Leipsic etc), but who knows ... I'm still not convinced by Carruth in net though. Getting the SO in game 7 is great, but overall his numbers haven't been that impressive.

Portland scored 328 regular season goals to Tri City's 281. However, Portland gave up 228 goals vs Tri City's 190. Goal differential for Portland is +100 vs +91 for Tri City's. This indicates that your guess about better depth is very likely accurate.
