It's actually nice to see good news regarding the Flames Organization. Nothing but anger and disapointment on the "fire on ice" thread.
Not all of these guys are going to transfer their success to the NHL, but it's nice seeing a lot of our prospect having good years. High percentage or junior successful players=higher percentage of NHL successful players

Abbotsford is #1 in the AHL's Western Conference right now. Irving's on fire and the team is really seeming to embrace the scoring by committee approach.

No doubt. I'm going to the game on Friday. They've been average at home (2-3-1). I really hope that momentum they gained on the road keeps going at home.
The fact that they beat their arch nemesis OKC on the road is huge for their confidence.
I expect a win, if not a stomping, of San Antonio tomorrow because they're one of the worst teams in the league. Last time they played them, it was at 10:00am (PST) and they won 4-0.

For sure, I'd think. Also, having success at the AHL level is important also. I'd hope the theory of having better players at the AHL level pushing each other to do better will benefit the Flames in the long run.
It's not an easy process, but who can argue that are our prospect group is in as bad as shape as it appeared even three years ago? I'm not saying it's perfect, and the Flames still need improvement in the prospect area, but when is the last time there were as many people on this thread actually feeling more positive about the Flames prospects?
BTW, it will be interesting to see where the Hockey News ranks the Flames prospects this year-it won't be in the top third I suspect, but will the Flames prospects rank between 10-20? (I honestly don't know how "stocked" other teams are other than Colorado and the Oilers and a couple other teams to compare.)

I'm not sure about that. I wouldn't be surprised to see Horak, Byron, and Brodie all graduate before season's end.
This will weaken our 'prospect' ranking.

If the Flames are boring you to death or if you want to channel surf, you can check out Lauren Brossoit and the Edmonton Oil Kings take on the high flying Medicine Hat Tigers on SNET ONE at 7:00 PM tomorrow.

Markus Granlund got a goal tonight, driving to the net from the boards. Was separated from his brother and the first line in the previous game, but tonight he was back.
He has 4 goals in his past 5 games.

Does he seriously only have 9 points in 18 games? It seems like every time I check this thread he's gotten a goal here and a goal there.
Or are those stats just not updates yet?

He has 10 points in 19 games. 5+5=10, +7.
I only update when he scores. Maybe that gives a certain impression. His brother is the leading scorer in the league, so when Markus gets first-line ice time, he scores well for his age. But they do shuffle the lines a bit.
There was a break early in November for national teams, and Markus played great in the U20 tournament. After that, he's scored 4 goals in 5 games. It's not a junior league so there will be ups and downs, and he won't get amazing ice time every game.
Here's a breakdown of the ice time and points:

Baertschi blows my mind! He's now basically got half of his point total from last year, but in 18 games played rather than 66 games played. Wow. He's on pace for a crap ton of points this year.

Yep, he's on pace for 38 goals, 105 assists and 143 points in 63 games (he missed a total of 9 so far because of injury etc). Unreal!

Missed the game, but he gets the win and shutout. I can't believe I actually want an Edmonton-based team to have success.
