As soon as Gaudreau is traded away? This team is already small enough. I don't care how big a guy plays, if he's not able to win the puck battles and is blowing snow most of the night its the last thing the team needs is another small player. Maybe if the Flames were able to trade Gaudreau to Nashville for Forsberg in a shake up deal, then maybe you can bring in Phillips. But as long as Gaudreau is around we're exceeding our daily allowable count of tiny players. I'm pretty sure Sutter isn't going to get smaller with this team. If anything he's going to reach into the minors and pull up some of the big bodies with grit and willingness to play a heavy game.

Just a heads-up:

I'll be live on the Fan 960 today at around 5:55 for a 15/20-minute hit talking all things Stockton Heat with Steinberg.

Should be a lot of fun.

Scorp really happy for you.

What exactly is your role relative to the Heat? Is this part of FlamesNation? An “official” Heat correspondent?

I'm fully accredited to cover the Heat on behalf of FlamesNation. I do pre-game and post-game stuff over there and I attend all home games. I also participate in every press conference and maintain a bi-weekly newsletter containing some additional tidbits and deeper dives/bigger picture looks.

I'm not affiliated with the Heat at all, but I've established a good relationship with their communications department and it's been a really great working experience to chat with Cail MacLean after every game. My hit on 960 today isn't a regular thing at this point nor is it FlamesNation-related; I've gotten to know Pat over the past few months and the Heat are a big deal right now, what with their lengthy winning streak. To be honest, I've probably watched as much or more of the Heat than anyone this year, and I figure they wanted to get someone to talk about some of the main guys down there with the Flames potentially looking at shaking things up in the near future.

That's more of an answer than maybe you expected but, in short, the game coverage and press conference stuff is all on behalf of FlamesNation. My newsletter is something separate and complementary, building off my existing coverage. My Twitter account is some weird mix of the two. And this radio hit is, as of now, a one-time thing—we'll see how it goes, and I'm really excited about it.

Great job. It’s good to get in depth coverage of the Heat. If I had my way, I’d love for them to be located in Calgary full time. I’d definitely support another team besides the Flames with my ticket purchases.

I'll check with Pat — hope so. My brother-in-law recorded it but my one-year-old niece was kinda "talking" over me, lol.

You sounded like a seasoned pro Scorp. Which you very soon will be.

Didn’t sound nervous at all. There was one um in your first comment and then hardly a single filler to follow.

Great fluidity, smooth timbre, and solid analysis. Fantastic job.

Phillips is the same height as Alex Debrincat and a right shot. Of cours, HockeyDB lists Debrincat at 165 lbs. and Phillips at only 145 lbs. I wonder how up to date it is.

Scorp, what if anything do you know about Kinvall? I know hes not on the Heat but I'm more excited for his potential than even Mackey, with the limited I've heard on him pre injury. I think we have a real gem in him, wondering what others thoughts are on him. I feel hes often forgotten due to playing overseas

Heat/Moose about to get underway. Looks like we might see Zagidulin in net tonight.

It looks like Lerby scored. 1-0 with the lone assist going to Pettersen.

Moose have been controlling the play but Lerby did, indeed, receive credit for the opening goal.

Looks like Pospisil might have touched it on the way to Berdin. He definitely should be credited with a point, either way — he left the puck for Pettersen, who passed it to Lerby.

Scoring now officially reads Pospisil (3) from Lerby and Pettersen.

Very good offensive D. Shoots right. Will be 24 when he comes over. Will almost certainly get PP reps. Pretty average-sized but, from what I hear, a good skater.
