And Section 31 comes out tomorrow?
|
I'm torn. I think Peck is a pretty good spock, but again, why did spock need to be in Discovery? Why did they need to create a sister character for Spock? Why did they need to take spocks story and make it so much ####ing weirder?
I am also pleased that SNW exists, but i would prefer to think of it just existing in vacuum without springing from Discovery.

You're know the answer to your own questions.
Star Trek Discovery or, STD, is, in it's own unique way...almost a lesson in show-writing.
I supported the writers getting paid more with the exception of STD writers because, if you're bad at what you do then you shouldnt be getting paid more.
That writer's room must be wild.
"Oh God! Oh God! This sucks! This is brutal! We gotta get someone recognizable in there or this show is canceled and we're all fired and, lets be honest, putting this show on our resumes isnt going to generate a lot of callbacks!"
Thats pretty much how I figure it went down. Followed swiftly by...
Peck and Mount: "Oh God! Oh God! This show sucks! We gotta get out of here!!"

I want to visit the timeline where Fuller ran Disco for it's full run.
I may not have liked it as Trek, but I feel it would have been more cohesive.

As an avid, avid fan of Fuller's (#teamHannibal) I'd have liked that too. But I get the distinct impression, and this is just a guess...but Fuller seems to have bailed when he saw it going off the rails.
And...considering Fuller's past experiences? Thats saying something.
When I see his name attached to projects I am intrigued.

I love Hannibal!
Yeah, who knows what really went down, Bryan seems to only get shows so far these days and then gets let go or bails really before they turn into a thing.
I feel like he's been attached to more shows that never got made or made with him since Hannibal than actual shows that he ran.

Hannibal was goddamned amazing. Like an actual clinic on how to run a TV show...everything was awesome.
He changed a lot of the characters, he changed a lot of things and, as a die-hard fan of the books and the original material, I went into watching Hannibal absolutely dedicated to hating it. I was 'hate-watching' and holy crap...that didn't last long.
I was blown away. Its one of my absolute favourite shows. I couldnt believe Fuller somehow got that on network television and I re-watch it all the time.
So then, some time goes by and a young and impressionable, one might say even naive young Locke sees that a new Star Trek show is coming and he sees that Bryan Fuller of Star Trek and Hannibal fame is attached to it...and he is prepared to LOVE this show as a die-hard Star Trek fan. Its Star Trek, its Bryan Fuller, this show got every single benefit of the doubt from me.
I was locked and loaded and prepared to love it!
Thats how bad it was.

Fuller basically left the show before it began because of "creative differences" with CBS (he was creative and CBS was not). We really don't know how much of his vision for the show actually made it to air.
I don't know if his version would have been any good, but it certainly couldn't have been worse than what we got.
Also, it looks like the Section 31 movie won't be airing on CTV Sci-Fi, so there goes any chance I will watch it. I might have given it a chance if it was on tv, but I'm not going to subscribe to Paramount+ just to watch it.

I know this is frowned upon, but there is no way I am paying to watch this.

Fair warning...the next 2 hours are going to be like a 'stream of consciousness' as I watch this.

Why is the Vulcan Irish? Is there a back-story that I missed?
I can put this in 'spoilers' if you guys want to be surprised or whatever. I probably will.
At the moment I'm 20 minutes in and thus far this is absolute ass.

I finished it. Oh boy, that could have just been an episode. A terrible episode but at least it would be shorter.
The only real positive was the Georgiou back story.

They really just stretched out the pilot from the show they were planning then?
Now long is it?
