During the Oilers' little win streak against bottom feeders there were people here that were worried about them having an easy ride to the final this year because there are no elite teams in the West to stop them. The thing is, you don't have to be elite to beat the Oilers. You just have to play a strong team game and put in a solid 50-60 minute effort. I think any one of Dallas, Colorado, Winnipeg, LA, Seattle, or even Vegas would probably embarrass them in 6 games or less. Especially with their horrific defence and goaltending.
Sure, you've got the two cheat codes in the Wonder Twins and the McPP to worry about. But the officiating in the playoffs vs the regular season is night and day, and a lot of chincy stuff that gets called during the season is often let go in the playoffs. Also no 3 on 3 OT, which automatically makes it tougher for McLotteryball and Pissy to win the games by themselves like they usually do.
Each time these losers have managed to squeak into the playoffs during the McDavid era, we've seen what happens to them when they go up against deeper, stronger competition and it's the same result every time.

Apparently JP isn't on the ice for practice today in stinkville, and the Sharks have called up a D from their AHL team. Goofs on Oilers reddit are all convinced this means EK will be an Oiler by the end of the day.
If so, I hope it is multiple 1st going the other way, along with all their best prospects (which is what, 2 guys?).... and they still couldn't make the math work at 50% retained.

They better hurry up. They're about to play the Rangers and Avalanche this weekend. The fanbase is losing patience waiting for 7-6 losses instead 6-5.

Reminder: Edmonton is paying James Neal just under $2M. This year and the next two years.

I think the average intelligence level in Edmonton is much lower than I initially thought…..
“We are the only team that will take Karlsson so we should have all the leverage……but they need to retain 40-50%”
What in the #### is wrong with these guys…….

I was told in this very thread a few pages ago that Kane makes the oilers a 110 point team.

Well… if the Oilers didn’t beat the Flames at the end of the 2007 season they would have had Chicago’s placement for the 2007 draft lottery.
An immature Patrick Kane would have been ruined by the Oilers before 2011. They would have thrown the keys on the table to let him drive the bus sideways like Hall, Hopkins, & Nail.
So they might as well finish the job & ruin the rest of his career by trading multiple first round picks for Twilight Patrick with a wonky hip.

"We should bring given a pass for our incompetent cap management because we're special!"
Same rules apply to every team. It's a level playing field.
There's nothing wrong with the system, only the Oilers
Oh, you thought knee jerk signing nurse to a 9.25 per year extension a year early without waiting to see his follow up season to help negotiate the most cap friendly deal wasn't going to catch up to them at some point?
It's their own fault for being spineless and kyite at their jobs. Deal with it
The constraints now can all be traced back to impulsive decisions they made at some point. It's fully and entirely on the Oilers
Lay in the diarrhea soaked bed you made, losers

Salary Cap is ruining the game?
Who led the charge for it in the early 2000s?
Memories are short in Stink Town.

Stupid Oilers fans, before the salary cap, they were financially poor team and whined about all the rich teams such as the Rangers, Leafs, and Wings signing all the UFA and whined about how the league needs a salary cap. And now they are whining about the salary cap because they have a rich owner? UFA still don't want to sign with them because they are poor, it's because they are poo of an organization.

Unreal that through the entire registering of the contract through the league no one caught that someone added a zero. $925000 x 8 was the fair offer. You'd think someone would have raised a flag and said "Uh $9250000 for Nurse? There's no way this is correct!"
But thems the breaks. Don't check your work; live with the cap consequences.
