Happy for Bennett. He was the one player I really wanted to see lift that cup tonight.

That handoff from Benny to Chucky was so awesome to see.

The hue of the jerseys was a bit off. But still it was awesome.

Good for him he deserves it, he's living up to his draft.
Not sure if he ever scores enough to live up to a top 5 pick, but a playoff warrior that you need to win for sure

I am personally stoked for Ryan Lomberg, happy to see my favourite AHL Flame buzz saw find foot hold in Florida the last few years and win a Stanley Cup!

It's not just scoring goals though, he scored some key goals during the series, it's all the other things that he does that other players can't do.

I think we have to look at Sam Bennett a little differently, in his own way he's more of a complete player. He definitely can bring it in the playoffs.

To me, being one of the top dawgs on a Cup winning team is more than enough to solidify yourself as a top notch top 5 NHL pick.

Playoffs is where your true value is shown.

Absolute beast

And to do it in gulutzan’s face makes it so much more perfect. The coach who single handedly more than any, tried to deny you an NHL career, by banishing you to the fourth line for the exact type of play that helped win the cup.

Wish he gave gully a full on DX ‘suk it’ in the handshake line with a fake handshake to boot

From: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/558...7-stanley-cup/

Quote:
It turns out it wasn’t until [the Oilers] scored by selecting Leon Draisaitl at No. 3 in 2014 that they finally landed that franchise player. Draisaitl was the player MacTavish, now GM, badly wanted, though even he admits the decision to draft him over Sam Bennett — now with Florida — panned out better than expected.

“It’s hard to predict a guy who’s iconic like that,” MacTavish said. “The scouts were pretty firm about Leon over Bennett. He didn’t have the same skill set that Leon did.”
How'd that work out for you, McTavish?

Sam Bennett has the defensive skill set to shutdown McDavid & Draisaitl enough to win a Stanley Cup.

Draisaitl in the Finals:

- 0 goals
- 3 assists
- 14 shots
- 6 hits

Bennett in the Finals:

- 1 goal
- 3 assists
- 12 shots
- 34 hits

Not even a comparable Finals in that "Superstar #3 pick vs Bust #4 pick" Cup Final battle

Honestly Draisaitl looks like Huberdeau with McDavid, confidence and a shot. Big clunky winger with good vision but cannot drive their own line. Bennett is obviously a lot more useful as a centre, especially in the playoffs.
