Love it. Getting peer pressured into a $600 putter because yours is faded, and losing paint. Browse Market Place, theres always guys looking to unload golf equipment on there.

I'm heading out to Mickelson National tomorrow afternoon. I wasn't going to do it this year as I don't really enjoy the course but just getting out is better than no golf.

Really? I think it’s fantastic. Played there on Thursday and it’s in great condition.

Well, my putter is about a decade old and I've upgraded all my other clubs except it, so it felt like a good time to do so. The peer pressure is really only for the Scotty.
Are the Odyssey white hot OGs basically the same as the older versions (ie OG = original)? They look good to me and could be a nice upgrade without changing the feel too much. Then I could take care of it a bit better.

Sirocco this afternoon. Course is in really good shape. Greens are very smooth, but a touch on the soft side and slower than normal. Oddly, wasn't in a single bunker, so can't comment on the condition of the sand.
My game is hot garbage right now. Last 4 9s are 37, 40, 47 and 40.
Have no idea where the ball is going off the tee and have started shanking my irons. Guess more lessons are needed.

Check out the evnroll putter. I’m going to buy the ER2. You can customize it from factory for around 450 I believe.

Definitely recommend. Had one for a couple years and it is great.

Had a similar problem about 3 weeks ago. I focused on the tempo of my backswing to the follow through and found I was swinging too fast. I slowed it down and my swing returned to normal.

I got a TM Spider for $275 this year and really like it.
There was a few options in this range and I went to Golftown and just tried a bunch.
I tried some of the $500ish putters too and felt no advantage, at least not at my skill level.

The course is definitely in great condition and the setting is fantastic but the shaping and contouring just kind of ruins the course for me. Maybe it is because I am not a very good golfer but when hit the fairway or a good lay up in front of the front I expect that I will have a good lie for my next shot. But with Mickelson National there are just too many above/below the feet lies and I takes a lot of the fun out of the game. Maybe if I was a low handicap I would have a different appreciation for the course.

The wife and I golfed at serenity today. The skeeters are out now. Between the two of us we likely lost 20 balls…..good thing we buy the cheaper ones.

This is an interesting question and one I'm going to speak generally to, not directed at you or what you should buy.
Question: What driver do you hit, and how many times have you bought a new driver over the past decade? Answer this question and that might help you begin to understand the value proposition of a new putter.
Let's put this purchase into perspective. Which club do you strike the ball with most in a round? Should this club not be the best one in your bag and the one you establish a relationship with? People will not hesitate to go and drop $500-600 bucks on a new drive that they hit at most 14 times during a round. But they will take to the greens with a cheap knock-off that they hit 32-36 times a round, or more. They wonder why they have no feel or why their ball rolls with no consistency. While a lot of it has to do with developing a stroke, a large part of it is you are playing with a club with zero feel.
When you buy a putter, I would not recommend hitting puts in the store on a rug. Try and get out on an actual green and roll the balls you normally play. Don't hit the assorted rocks they have out on the rug or practice green, hit the balls you play so you know what a proper strike feels like. Also, feel will develop with more distance, so you need a large green to work on. The showroom is the worst place to try out a club, especially for feel.
You want to shave strokes off your game and watch your handicap drop, invest in a good putter. It is the most important club in your bag. I always urge people to buy a Scotty Cameron, a Bettinardi, a Piretti, or a Carbon, because they have the best feel around. Yes, it's an investment, but a putter will be with you through multiple sets of clubs. What ever you buy, give it a few weeks to a couple months of practice, and you'll get it. You won't initially appreciate the club because it takes time to develop feel, but once you find your hands you will go and use other putters and immediately know the difference. Your lags will be better and your roll will be much more consistent, even on ####ty greens. You get what you pay for, so bite the bullet and spend as much on a putter as you would on a driver. Oh, and ebay is your friend. I have five Scottys and I didn't pay more than $175 for any of them. Good luck on your hunt!

Agreed with Lanny above. If you're willing to spend $300 why not just spend the extra $50-80 and go with a Scotty. You'll play it forever.

I have a 2012 Scotty Cameron GoLo that I bought in 2012 for $350 from my golf club. https://www.scottycameron.com/archiv...2/select/golo/
I was surprised to see new Scotty Cameron putters are $520 in Golftown, but there are several on craigslist for under $300. My putter looks almost brand new and is nine years old. There are some rough looking used Camerons out there. What are people doing with their putters? I remove my headcover, putt, put my headcover back on, and put it back in the bag. I don't get how people are getting these giant dings and scratches on their putters, or chunks missing from them. I understand wedges showing wear, because you hit them all the time and at different angles, but a putter really should look fairly new forever.
I don't know what style you like, or what hand you are, but here is a Scotty for $264 https://www.golftownpreowned.com/en/...ufacturer=8642. There are many of them out there if you want to buy used and don't mind spending some time to look.

Played Kananaskis (Kidd) over the weekend and I have to say I was pretty disappointed. First, cart path only which is always a problem at a course like this where there can be some long walks from the path to where the ball can end up. Makes for a longer round obviously, to not even use 90° rule though is pretty crap. Second, thought the greens were in pretty poor shape, not all that fast and fairly bumpy, even though it was clear they were mowed pretty low. Fairways were pretty hard too so not exactly getting clean divots from there. And they are still full COVID rules with no rakes, which is fine enough, but man do people take that as the green light to not even do the minimum after a bunker shot. Like just a quick brush over would be nice, but no one gave a ####. Ultimately probably the worst round I've had out there.

I heard they might go with cart path only going forward. Not sure how reliable that is, but it’s not a hard walk. I prefer walking to cart path only in almost every case.

Walking My Kidd is not fun but given the choice of a cart with cart path only in place or walking I would definitely walk the course. From what I can remember Lorrette is a pretty easy walk.

Yeah Lorette is a doable walk, but Kidd would be brutal, way more elevation changes. Guess we'll see if they are going path only going forward, but to not even allow 90° is kinda crap and ruins pace of play.

Meh, I walked Kidd earlier this year and it was fine. I mean I walk more often than not, so maybe it depends on what you generally are used to and what courses you walk. I didn’t find it brutal at all though.
Lorette is just plain flat. It’s really nothing difficult to walk.

I also walked Kidd this year and it was fine. Harder courses to walk in Calgary...
I'll also second that I wasn't all that impressed with the condition of Kidd last time I played it.
