To get back on track, the part about the add is that Columbus has no incentive to move the pick and is dealing from a position of strength.

We'd be out to lunch to pay that, agreed. But I would imagine the ask is sky high since they're likely not looking to move it. Thus an over-payment would be needed to get the talks started.

I wish there was more talk about the various players that should be available at 6 than continued discussion revolving trades that will never happen. Columbus isn't trading the 3rd overall pick. It's simply not going to happen and nor should they trade away an opportunity to add a player that the ISS has ranked ahead of Laine. This is all fantasy from fans that still haven't accepted that the Flames fate was sealed on lottery day and it is 6th where they will pick.

No I'm good, I'll just let you move on to the next fight in peace.

I think we've discussed everybody potentiallyavailable at 6 to death at this point. Brown, Keller, Juolevi, Tkachuk, Dubois, Chychrun, Jost, Sergachyev... I suspect we've covered them to completion.

Discussion around potential 2nd rounders or 1st round trade-down targets (Kieffer Bellows, Jake Bean, Dante Fabbro, Julien Gauthier, German Rubtsov) is probably our best bet.

Julien Gauthier intrigues me. He'd be a real reach at 6th overall, but should we not miraculously end up with either of the Finns, Dubois or Tkachuk he would be the guy I'm most interested in.

Seconded... I was really hoping Dallas would have won and 26 and 35 could be packaged for a pick in the 18-22 range to grab him. I think he would be a tough get with where the flames are at, reach at 6, long gone by 35.

He would fit the bill:

Wonder if we can package a pick with a prospect to move up within his range...

With how his season ended, there is a possibility that he could slide down to the mid/late 20's. Should be much of a problem to move up if need be.

If he's on the board at 25 say, the Flames could likely package 35 + 53/54 for it

Jost is up to #5 overall on this ranking. Very interesting comments on picks 4 to 8.

No Keller through 15 on that list. I'm pretty sure he'll be taken before then.

What about #6 and all of our seconds for Werenski? If Columbus really loves Brown that much....

So way more for Werenski than Hamilton. Makes zero sense

All those picks for another defence prospect seems rather wasteful. You can't just count on trading away one of our extra D for a blue chip RW.

Before considering using the 2nds, I'd rather swindle the piss out of Benning once more and trade him Wideman for Virtanen.
