One of the greatest tragedy of tennis is we will never get Nadal vs Federer at the US Open, would have loved to see these two battle it out in New York.

The young Chinese phenom Qinwen Zheng took out top seed Paula Badosa 6-3 6-2 at the Japan Open earlier today.

We have a pretty good match (hopefully) coming up on Thursday in Metz as Medvedev will face Stan the Man.

Who will be the opponent's against Fedal on Friday? I'm guessing it will be Felix and Sock or maybe Fritz and Sock for team world. Whoever it is, I hope they lose

What do you consider Federer's greatest Grand Slam title? I know it's hard to chose from 20 of them, but for me, his most special would have to be 2017 AO. Going into the tournament he hadn't won a slam since 2012 and he hadn't won a slam outside of Wimbledon since 2010. Add to the fact he was coming off 6 months away on tour dealing with an injury and he was seeded 17th . Because of all this he had a tough road to the final taking on some very good players at the time in Nishikori and Wawrinka and then to beat his nemesis in the finals, the man that probably cost Federer 5+ Grand Slams it was a pretty crazy story and something that I can look back 5 years later and appreciate.

Just to be contrarian and add something to the discussion (because the 2017 AO title was indeed special), I'll go with the 2009 French Open slam. Yes, Soderling played a big role in eliminating Rafa, but Fed had to rally from two sets to one down against Delpo to even make the finals and in the 4th round, he came back from two sets to none down against Tommy Haas. Add to the mix that this is only French Open title and this is my choice.

If you enjoy watching one-handed backhands, you will enjoy the following rally - Gasquet won the point, but Thiem won the match. Gets Hubi Hurkacz on Thursday.

the pressure was immense once Rafa went out. It was now or never. And yes, he was down 2 sets to Haas the very next day.

DOWN TWO SETS, Federer knew he was in trouble. He was searching for his game like a person who had mislaid his reading glasses. His attempts to find it were thwarted by Haas' unrelenting aggression. Haas gave Federer no chance to pry open the match as the games rolled on to 3-all in the third set. The stress and strain on Federer had been steady, eroding his game until he found himself down break point at 3-4 -- not quite a match point, but the next-best thing.

the inside out forehand to save himself at break point during the Haas match was definitely the most important single shot of his career. I don't even think I would have joined CP to talk about tennis later on if he missed that.

Federer is so underrated on clay, between 2005-2011 he went 40-1 against people not named Nadal at the French Open. If he didn't have to play the greatest clay court player ever he would have won 5 French Open titles easily, maybe even more. My favorite non Nadal match at the French Open was 2011 semis Federer vs Djokovic and Federer broke Djokovic's insane unbeaten streak and then brought out the finger wag to celebrate

No Fritz nor FAA on Day 1 - McEnroe doesn't know what he's doing.
