Yariel not sucking right now. Very under control and not struggling to throw strikes. That's encouraging.

Loving the play of the Baby Jays. Fun to watch especially compared to the start of the year.

No pressure will do that.
Good to see Vlad step up and yes good for some young guys to get some good reps. Leo Jimenez has been good as are the others.

But the Jays window is open with a management team which may be (at least half for sure) be back next year and over correct the mistakes they made last offseason.

So there will be Kiermeier, Turner-esque replacment of some ilk, probably some vets brought in to bolster the pen. The Bargers and Lukes and Horowitz may get a better sniff but, especially if Atkins stays, given one last chance its pedal to the metal with "win now".

Even if he's gone and a new manager and a new GM, there is expectation of playoffs next year or those premium seats they keep adding will take a bigger hit for 2026.

Atkins will be back for sure, probably Schneider too. Shapiro wasn't exactly holding his cards to his chest when he mentioned he wanted to keep his team together.

Agreed, looks like they are doing a retool for next year. I just don't see big enough proven pieces beyond Vladdy to be a contender. They would likely need to add 2 more stars and bolster or make upgrades to 50% of the lineup. That's not including whatever happens to Bichette. Maybe the kids stay hot but that's a big maybe.

Both Vladdy an Bo are UFA after next season.

If they pull it off I will happily eat crow.

I've read reports that Atkins wont get fired but might get moved into a different position next season.

Ah, the classic "failing up". That always works well, good to have him still around when the successor is trying to clean up his mess.

Were the Rangers the worst team to ever win the world series? Recent consensus has the 2015 Royals or 2011 Cardinals with that distinction. But I think you have to tip your ball cap to the Rangers. With how bad they were in the second half of last season. To how bad they are now. Woof. They just got on a heater at the right time.

That 2015 KC team was sneaky good. I believe they were 1st seed in the AL. I still can't beleive the Jays lost to them, we seemed like a team of destiny after the Texas series.

I think you're right. They had a creampuff opponent in the WS and basically got hot through the AL playoffs, so about a dozen games. They did win four games in Houston so have to give them that.

But they are back to being awful with no development system in place for sustainable success.

Both Marlins World Series wins were flukes. Only team to win the World Series without ever winning a division.

Score 8 runs and lose and then next game give up 2 runs and lose. Is the season over yet?

Wins don't really matter right now, Bowden Francis looking like the real deal is huge positive though.

This team is dead last in reliever WAR in the MLB.

And it's not even close. I saw -3 WAR and the 2nd last team is right around even WAR.

Pretty much the same bullpen last year had 4.3 WAR.

That's a -7 WAR swing from basically the same bullpen (at the start of the season).

7 WAR puts the Jays right in the thick of the WC race.

They also got NOTHING from Bo Bichette this year.

I don't think anyone would have predicted those two things happening before the season started.
