Jose wants to stay and he also wants a boat load of money. I've pretty much resigned myself to the fact he's gone. I hope he gets dealt before the deadline if there's a decent return for him.
EE on the other hand I can see staying. At least I hope he does or he'll haunt us every time we play the Sox.

I was starting to warm up to trading Bautista at the deadline, but than I saw Carerra go down, and what Junior Lake brings to the table....
That said, Barney looked pretty good in LF last night!

The Jays simply can not trade Bautista if they are in any kind of playoff race, which barring a 10 game losing streak before the deadline we are virtually assured to be.
It would be an not only a shot to their playoff chances, the optics of that to the other players not to mention the fanbase would be astronomically bad.

Bautista is very arrogant and emotional, and his "I'm getting paid X at market value and not taking a hometown discount" is exactly what I was saying. You can't nickle and dime guys and their friends for years, and expect them to have a cordial relationship when it's their turn to be the one with the stick. Bautista is just enough of an arrogant prick to openly say what other players are thinking.
Both him and Edwin are going out of their way to ensure the blame is placed on Rogers when they leave.

Most knowledgeable fans know that his demands are unreasonable. So expressing his desire to stay on those conditions rings hollow to me.

That rings hollow to you, but the years and years and years of Rogers cheaping doesn't?

Is it your position that they should pay Jose more now because they didn't pay him enough in the past? Is that a good baseball decision?
I'm not interested in discussing Rogers the corporation. I'll let you continue to rant and rave on that. I'm interested in discussing what is right for the baseball team. And signing Jose to a big ticket long-term deal is not right in the long-term.

I personally don't think resigning Bautista is the correct baseball move, assuming they use that money to fill his position with an adequate replacement. I have no love for Bautista.
That said, you are sill ignoring the fact that The Jays have long history and nickel and dimming players, which comes back to bite them in the ass come renegotiation time which has direct effect on baseball moves. Your not going to get any loyalty or discounts from players who feel they are in a constant battle with ownership.

I'm not going to rehash the many examples I've posted numerous times before, feel free to Reread them yourself.
The Jays are widely known to be cheap across the league and with agents. Saying otherwise just makes me believe you just arguing for the sake of arguing. We are talking about a team that verbally committed to a pitcher and then went to the players to Restructure their contracts without him knowing and when he found out and he said no way he'd ask other players to do that for him and signed elsewhere. You are also talking about a team that had management come into the clubhouse after doing nothing in the offseason to tell the players that if they were in a position to make the playoffs they would add payroll only to turn around and tell every team in the league at trafe deadline time that they were not allowed to add payroll. Multiple Jays commented publicly on that.
Argue about the baseball merits of signing Bautista all you want ( I would agree), but When a team pulls #### like that, it leads to players like Bautista taking the hard-nosed positions they are., and when you are a cap team like the Jays every dollar counts.

You are making massive assumptions that his demands are based on that. Massive. More than likely he just thinks he is worth that. I think your narrative continues to be massively skewed due to your hate for Rogers. Bottom line is they shouldn't sign him to a deal that meets his demands. If you agree with that then what are you on about

I'm saying that they don't do themselves any favours to save themselves some cash or get players to take shorter deals when they spend the previous 5 years fighting tooth and nail for every dollar. I don't think Bautista's stance would be nearly had harsh if he didn't personally feel that it's a battle between the Jays players and their ownership.
While we agree that Bautista is a baseball move (not resigning), do you actually feel that the Jays will spend that money elsewhere next year? I don't, and that's what pisses me off.

Well Boston seems to be back to destroying opposing teams again. Man this is going to be a serious battle for the AL East pennant.
One positive is that Texas seems to be losing a lot of games lately!

There is going to be some seriously good teams in the wildcard game. Probably two of Texas, Houston, Toronto, Boston, and Baltimore.

Everyone in the Baseball world except Anthopolis and the Jays were doubting Bautista after the 2010 season. The 5 year deal worked out great for Toronto, but at the time it was risky. I don't think they nickled and dimed that one. If St.Louis can let Albert Pujols go over money...the Jays are easily justified movingon from Bautista and EE if the dollars nd term get too rich. Hell Baltimore let Chris Davis get into free agency before finally bringing him back.

Anybody take advantage of the MLB.TV late season promo last year remember when it was offered? Cut my cable and want to get it, but going to wait for the end of the season/playoff deal.

The Jays don't have to face Felix Hernandez this weekend! That's a win before the series even starts.

Estrada is off the DL, Morales comes up, Loup gets sent down.
Blue Jays @BlueJays
The @BlueJays have reinstated Marco Estrada and Franklin Morales from the DL. Aaron Loup and Andy Burns have been optioned to @BuffaloBisons
