Just a quick follow up if you are still trying to find that elite controller (or many other video game things) - this is a great website for you.
http://www.nowinstock.net/ca/videoga...ll_history.php
Elite Controller is popping up very often, history is showing it is usually multiple times every day. If you're not in a rush, watch the Amazon link - it was a decent chunk cheaper.

What amazon link? I just checked and they are out of stock at Microsoft Canada and Amazon.ca. That Nowinstock doesn't link you to the pages and when I go to the site it says they are sold out.

If you click the link, it shows when the various stores go in and out of stock and the price at which they are up for sale. You can see that Amazon has had it cheaper than retail and that the Microsoft store had it up for an hour or two just today. A friend of mine was looking for one and got in an order today.
Not sure if you can directly reach the stores from the nowinstock site but it's pretty foolproof to do a "elite controller" search at the respective site.

Oh, and if you still can't find it available or don't want to have the check the that nowinstock site, you can sign up and have them send you alerts for when the controller (or the other items they track) come in stock.

It up on Amazon.ca at the same discount again right now.
EDIT: Here is the direct link in case you can't find it for some reason. It's been up for a while now; looks like they've have made multiple batches available just this morning.

Our DVD player finally went kaput this weekend. I am using it as an excuse get a new game system. I haven't owned a console since PS2, so I have been out of the scene for quite a while.
This thread is really long, so I was hoping someone could give me a quick lowdown comparison of PS4 and Xbox One. Maybe just some pros and cons. Going by the poll, it looks like people favour PS4 by a longshot. Is that a fair summary?

PS4 is a straight gaming console, no bells and whistles that the XB1 has. So if the extras that the XB1 has are important to you go with it. If you really don't care about that then go with whatever system your friends have, or pick one with the most exclusives you are interested it.
When all else fails pick the one you find the best deal for.

PS4 is the best selling unit so far which would be why the poll slants that way, but really it hinges on what you need it for. If your DVD player is what is pushing this upgrade, then the entertainment features of the Xbox1 might be a better fit for you. After those features I'd look at the following in order of priority:
1) What system do your friends have? Best choice for you if you enjoy multiplayer games and want to connect with friends.
2) System exclusives. Look at the exclusive games and determine which ones appeal to you more.
3) Best deal. What unit can you find for the best cost and bundle.
4) Technical specifications. Very similar but the edge would go to PS4 as many of the multi-platform titles have had some issues running at full resolution on Xbox1. But before the Xbox guys jump all over me here, I put it last for the reason that it shouldn't be a major decision making factor.

Other point to consider linked to the exclusives is which controller do you prefer? Since that will be something you use constantly, it is a HUGE factor.
I tried out both, and the PS4 is way ahead of the PS3, and since I am used to the layout, I opted to stay with Sony. A lot of people like the XBox shape/deployment, but I didn't like it personally
My advice to anyone shopping between the two consoles is to go to a BestBuy/EB Games and play a little with the controllers on the demo machines

Agreed that it makes a difference but you just kind of get used to the controller for whatever system you own after a while. I played hundreds of hours on my old Xbox of Ghost Recon and loved that controller. Then switched to PS2 and it felt odd at first because of the change in joystick position but and after many hours of SSX, I was used to it.
For the PS3 and Xbox 360, I owned both systems and switched back and forth between titles for the systems and just became used to them both. I did prefer the PS3 controllers to the Xbox 360 but I imagine it's just because I played online almost exclusively with the PS3.

If you want to use a console as an entertainment device vs. just for gaming, Xbox One is the clear winner. Biggest advantage is being able to use any universal remote with it since it's infrared vs Bluetooth for the PS4. I have a Logitech Harmony One (best remote ever made) and it was extremely simple to download the Xbox One codes and now it's my very fancy Blu-Ray and Netflix player

I think the media advantages of the xbox one are overblown
PS4 can do netflix, dvd/bluray, youtube, ect...as an owner of both there isn't any real media advantage for me. PS4 has better multiplats overall and exclusives are a matter of opinion
both are good systems...and PS4 is certainly not "just a gaming device"

The only thing that bothers me is that Sony fans change the goalposts depending on the question. If someone asks what console they get and they just want a gaming console the Sony boys trot out answer A. If someone asks what console to get and they want a media but you get answer B. Yes the PS4 can be used as a media device but it's outclassed here at least by the Xbox One.

No need to get your Xbox panties in a wad EE. I am not the same person as dino, so I can have a different opinion than him.
At no point was I knocking Xbox, or promoting the PS4. In my opinion if you don't care to use any extra media stuff and only play games (just like I do) then maybe the PS4 is for him.
Edit: It's funny you use my quote saying Sony fans change the goal posts. Leave me out of your personal war against Sony fans, as I could really care less. Both consoles are good depending on what you want.

The PS4 is the better choice, full-stop. Better games, better controller, infinitely better UI, better hardware.
I've got both and barely turn on my One, while the PS4 is on every day.

Serious question, other than the "HDMI in" on the back, what does the XB1 really do that the PS4 doesn't when it comes to entertainment related things?

I'm surprised people don't value this feature more. Having your tv pass through the console allows some key benefits.
Primarily, everything is in one place. I never have to change the inputs on my tv. Whether I want to jump into a game, netflix, youtube, plex, or watch a Flames game, I'm accessing it all from the first screen that shows up when I turn on my tv. It also makes jumping back and forth between everything a breeze, no need to grab any remotes or switch anything over.
Another benefit -- you get all your xbox live messages and game invites no matter what you're doing on your tv. I am watching a Flames game and see an xbox live message from a friend to jump into Halo 5 on the screen, I can choose to accept it immediately or decline and keep watching hockey. If my console is on another input, I'm not even seeing that message until I actively switch over to my gaming console.
It basically allows you to centralize your media experience.
Other media things the Xbox does -- snapping apps (multitasking). Admittedly I don't use this very much, but its there should you need it. Also things like voice searches using bing (if you have kinect) add another layer of convenience to find a game or content you are looking for.
I don't have a PS4 yet so not sure how it compares directly with some of these features, but Xbox One has been a great overall media device for me.
