Is there a more pathetic fanbase?
Waaaahh…salary cap, nhl rules, all star game invitations, media, Toronto…waaah
I’m checking…yes! It looks like the whiners have a lot of money spent on players that aren’t even there. Waaah!!!

May lose McDavid, the guy will have the opportunity to go anywhere he wants. To go to a team that is serious. To go to a team that he doesn't have to drag to wins every night.
Yeah, he's gone.
The funny thing is how Cocky Oiler fans have gotten again, and to give credit its a nice streak that the Oilers have gone on where everything is going right for them. But I still think they're going to slide.
They're a team that always looks like a fluke.
What's more delicious is that the Oilers window is this year and next and then its done. What's Draisaitl going to want for a salary. Well probably in the 11 or 12 million dollar range.
I expect that if the Oilers don't win a cup this year, Draisaitl is moved in the off season. Its cup or bust now for the Oilers.

Oilers with a string of wins against bottom feeders over the last couple of weeks. Might as well just hand them the Cup right now. Team of destiny!

They had like 7 or 8 easy games in a row
The streak isn't unexpected at all
When it tightens up and they play more direct competition the illusion will dissolve yet again
Flames showed that when they actually are engaged they can do the same or better as the Oilers against the same teams
Also the same "easy" stretch will start for the Flames when it ends for the Oilers. Will be interesting to see how the narratives change in a couple weeks

I'm on the fence if he goes McDavid seems hell bent on playing high minutes and getting his McPoints. If he plays for a contender he will need to take a pay cut, and share the ice. Not sure he likes that idea at this point in his life, maybe when he can't play at his current pace but that's still a couple years away.

This is an Oiler fan talking about the Buffalo Sabres after yesterdays game against the Flames.
Even fluked out and struck gold with Thompson and still can't get it together. Crazy how that franchise just insists on sucking.
Yeah, lets not talk about how the Oilers fluked out with 4 1st overall picks including Connor McDavid and the fact that the Oilers are still NO GOOD!!
Is there a more clueless fan base out there?

I just read that according to commentators, for Harry Kane (spurs and England striker), his goals and personal records are his trophies. I don’t follow either that club or country, but I’m not aware of Harry Kane ever being accused of being a selfish player or person, the opposite in fact.
So now we have Mavi. With his block of wood personality, inability to wear a seatbelt properly, doesn’t defend, terrible leader, diving, etc., he surely must value his own records at the expense of team performance.
Is there a team that needs power plays to have a chance to win more than Mavi and the oilers?

Nope. I'd love to know what their record is in the last 2 years in games where they had less powerplays than the opposition.

Let’s not forget Kane came back
Like it or not when the Oilers have Kane over the past 2 seasons they are substantially better

Are they though? It’s been one year. Not a criticism, but noting the narrative of the Kane image rebranding. Every dressing room has been wrecked by Kane, with the wrist injury he has spent even less time there than when he was with other teams. Give it time!
All this does is put a different player on the power play. The tenderness and Hyman are two examples of players that put up spectacular numbers with Mavi, but return to normal when moved away from the glitter twins.
Beating the Oilers is about rolling lines and staying out of the penalty box.

Imagine having 97 points through 54 games and being +4.

Proof he’s a generational offensive talent. He thinks offence so deeply and so clearly that he’ll do whatever it takes to ensure the puck goes in the net regardless of which direction on the ice it’s going. For, against, it doesn’t matter, it’s all about goals for McDavid. An icon.

They are 37-17-4 with him in the lineup in the regular season. Plus 2 playoff round wins
That is a 110 point pace when he plays.
So the answer is easily yes.

So explain to me how none of their D were even close to 20 minutes of ice time while they had 4 forwards with 20+?
I know they had 6 PPs, but it just shows that their D is not reliable for anything.

I told my friend who's in an NHL family this tidbit (don't think he tracks the stats that closely) and he laughed out loud and asked if I was kidding
+4 is laughably low with that many points

Dont forget about his partner in crime Pissy. Who is Even on the year with 79 points in 52 games. Laughable to think Oilers media want him to win the Selke every year.
