the key is don't clear them even if 100% healthy...until you want them to play, if ever
see Mike Smith, played every single playoff game and a day later they know he is too hurt to play next season. Unless Cambell gets hurt

Now knowing all the injuries he suffered, it explains to some degree why his shooting "style " was different.
Hopefully all these injuries will be behind him and flicking the puck becomes a thing again.
if so, it will be like the Flames added a top 6 forward without giving out any assets.
P.S. Someone has mentioned that Nichushkin had some similar issues, that he needed to re learn to skate and look at the player he was last year. Hopefully Monny tracks the same way.
|
But Nichushkin had hip surgery in 2014. It took awhile for him to finally play above the level he did his rookie year.
Monahan isn’t 19. IMO he’s done ever being Monahan from 3 years ago.

Sorry if this is posted in the last few pages... is Monny expected to be healthy for the start of season?

Konecny+Sanheim for Dube+Hanifin??

Yeah his wife is Calgarian and they live here when he's not in Philly.

Like Tanev, the last update had him ahead of schedule. So technically yes?
In my opinion though, I believe the safe expectation for Monny would be to see him up to speed and at a point where he should be rounding into whatever final form he takes around....new year?
I recall reading a bunch of stuff the first time he had hip surgery that it usually take 6 to 12 months to get back full mobility.

Travis Konecny has strong puck possession numbers. He scored 2.3 points and 9 shots per 60 minutes at 5 v 5 last season. He looks like a first line, right handed winger to me. He might be an ideal target.
(For reference, Mangiapane was 2.2 points and 8.2 shots per 60 at 5 v 5.)

Yeah I think a guy like Konecny could help rebalance the lines a bit… still need a better 2C option though, which I think should be the priority if it’s possible.

I would love to grab him but Philly isn’t going to just give him away. I’m not sure what the flames could offer? It’s not like we have a gushing prospect pool. I doubt they will want dude and valamaki. I highly doubt flames are looking at trading one of their top 6 dmen.

The way this scandal is shaping up whomever the 8 guys are (Dube not denying being there)
Looks like they could be suspended by the NHL.
Likely why Sam Steel hasn’t been picked up yet too.

Taking a while to get to 5000

I mean, it wouldn't shock me to see Calgary deal with Montreal, and Tre was there for a bit recently. But yeah, I don't buy that report.

Yeah, that actually does sound like something the Flames would do.

I’d entertain it if Montreal ate half his contract. But then I wouldn’t want to pay what they’d probably be asking.

I've always really liked Armia. He's who I wanted us to draft when we took Baertschi in 2011.
Armia would have to be dirt cheap with that kind of production and cap hit though.

There'd have to be some deadweight money going out. Lucic?
Monnys not going anywhere.

Not a smart move. I doubt that’s true.

Saves $4M this year but costs $2M next year when Lucic comes off the books. Gives some flexibility

Not if you want to have Huberdeau and Weegar sign extensions. Better off trading Lucic.
