They need a CG jacket so they can brave the cold and bring it in on a day like this.

Lol! Thats just desperate.
"Please come back....please!!!!"
Although I will say that one time the Collection truck just missed my house one week, my bin was out and everything....at that time we had 7 people living in my house and you cannot miss a week of recycling.
Compost and Garbage every 2 weeks? No problem. Recycling though? Nope. That bin is full every week.
So I contacted the City and they sent a guy that afternoon, he even put the bin back at the side of my house after. I was thoroughly impressed.

Leaving it out on the curb between thaw/freeze cycles seems like a good way to destroy a bin when it gets picked up.

I must say that now I want to see a video of a blue bin frozen to the ground being ripped in half with the claw from the truck as it tries in vain to shake out the crushed husk of a container before dropping the whole thing into the truck.

My theory is if you left it long enough the faux-spoke portion of the wheels would get encrusted by snow/slush/ice.
I am sure weirder things have happened.

I can confirm bins do get damaged and or destroyed by the city trucks.
Also 311 had me a nice new shiny bin in about 3 business days.
No drama, just great service.

That happened to our bin a couple years ago. Not sure how but it froze to the ground overnight and the machine arm ripped the front of the thing off. It was kind of funny when I discovered it. I'm not sure what the driver should have done differently, he knew I would just discover it and report it.
I was just amused by the thought of a driver whipping around destroying bins while chuckling to himself.
Its not like he's going to knock on our door at 7am. Sorry sir I destroyed your bin.

As one of the unwashed who lives in a neighbourhood where the bins are left exposed to the elements, it doesn’t really seem to make a difference. I’ve had the lids ice themselves closed but have yet to experience the bins getting stuck in ice.

I've had one stuck in ice, but freed it before the truck Bravehearted it. In the alley, snow melts, runs down, pools and freezes. Right at my bins.

I once saw one of the Recycling trucks just drop the whole bin in the hopper...I thought that was pretty funny. Ah well, it happens.

People across the street whom I dislike very much had theirs smash on the street because it slipped out of the claw. It was filled to the brim with topsoil and gravel. Caught it on the driveway cam. I lol'd

People have been dressing up as the Grinch and stealing their kids presents, all for social media views. The kids freak the #### out.

The Grinch stuff reminds me of those school teachers who put on Halloween masks and scared the hell right out of the little kids in their class. This isn't much different. It's just cruel.

I think a small portion of the population has kids simply for the perceived social media glory.

Sounds like a good way to instill a lifelong distrust for the parents from the kids. Well done, enjoy your empty twilight years.

Pages and pages of coat talk, does no one else have a Fjallraven? I bought mine for a trip up north in ~2016 cause it fit my shoulders better than a Canada Goose. I recall they were cheaper than CG at the time.
I think it was February and an unrelenting -30; I was so toasty warm, and felt like Han Solo on Hoth.
