Vladdy the only hitter without a base hit so far tonight. He’s “only” hitting .270 with a .900 OPS since the all star break. Slim Daddy slumping a bit. And I say that loosely because of how amazing he was in the first half.

The only person in the world who can compete with Teoscar’s smile is Vlad. They are just such likeable guys.

Can we ban position players from pitching please? This is just annoying to watch.

They don’t have to worry about Araúz beaning them out of anger. The batter could just grab the ball barehanded as it comes towards them.

LMAO...only Grichuk would pop up a pitch like that to the catcher.

Arauz did a better job than Burucki

I agree though, it is not only annoying but it is disrespectful to the game,IMO

Maybe teams should only be able to use a preassigned designated position player or two as an emergency pitcher. I agree that Araúz was an embarrassment.

I know it's early for scoreboard watching, but, well, I am in full scoreboard watching mode anyway. So here goes...

On July 28th:

BOS 63-40
TOR 50-48 (10.5 games back)

Since then:

BOS 1-7
TOR 8-1 (4 games back)

The way I like to look at the standings is by watching the loss column. And in that respect, things have gotten really interesting:

BOS 47
OAK 48
----------
NYY 49
TOR 49
SEA 53

With 50+ games remaining, the race is ON and the playoffs are not only within reach, but I believe the Jays are the best team on that list.

The Jays trail the other teams because they have fewer wins, meaning they have games in hand that they need to win. The great thing about that now is that they have 6 starters, which puts them in a great position for all those extra games.

The next 2 months are going to be awesome! And I cannot wait until they pass the BoDicks in the standings!

I think getting to play back in Toronto was a game changer.

The 15k in attendance has been sounding like 50k. No longer have to play home away games against the Yankees and Redsox among others in Buffallo where the home crowd is cheering for the away team.

I think going back to TO was huge also, but the biggest thing was the addition of Cimber and Richards who have absolutely been lights out since coming to the Jays and have steadied the bullpen big time.

Wildcard race is making a lot of these OOT games hard to decide who to cheer for. Mariners up on NYY right now, but either could be our foe in the ALWC race ultimately. Rooting against the NYY is the obvious (and safe) choice in this case, but there are lots of games coming up where its a toss up on which outcome will end up being preferable to the Jays.

Jays only chance for playoffs is the wildcard. So it's an easy choice: root against whoever is ahead of them. It is extremely unlikely that both the Jays and the Mariners pass all of BOS, OAK and NYY. So when SEA is playing any of those teams, I am rooting for SEA.

Plus, I ALWAYS root for whoever is playing BOS or NYY, no matter what. And when they play each other, I root for the weather. So that's also pretty easy.

Mayza to the injured list.

FML

Borucki optioned to AAA, which I guess is and isn't surprising at the same time, He's been not very good for a while now.

Snead and Murphy up.

Okay, they got the monkey off their backs yesterday, now it's time to stomp on them and make a statement.
