The biggest difference is that if Canada is in Pot 3, Japan, Korea and Iran cannot go into Group A, increasing Canada's chances, 1 out of 5. That is if the US or Mexico don't go into Group A first and blocks Canada.

Why does Fifa want Vancouver so bad? Just because BC Place already exists?

So the simulator got me (with Canada being in Pot 4)
Spain
Croatia
Japan
Canada
And with Canada being in Pot 3
France
Germany
Canada
Cameroon.
Let’s say I hope their actual luck is better.

I’m assuming proximity and time zone to high population west coast US venues.

That article about Edmonton notes a permanent grass field has to be in place by 2025. Can they do that in BC Place? I guess in Edmonton or Vancouver's case, the cfl teams would have to play the first half of the season on the road or a different stadium?
It's also hard to see how some of those big nfl stadiums could go natural grass a year ahead and play a season of football and big events on it.

Well, if you were hosting a huge event and the choice was Edmonton or Vancouver, that basically picks itself. Sure, selfishly it's better for me in Edmonton, but Commonwealth is a dump.

Commonwealth would get upgrades, and the World Cup is one of the few legitimate reasons to invest big money into a refresh.
I'm hoping Edmonton gets the games. Screw Vancouver.

For the first time ever, I have 2 dogs in the fight in the WC. Kinda cool, ngl.
Here's hoping Canada & Portugal don't get drawn into the same group!

I think I'm the opposite.
I would have tons of fun watching Croatia-Canada in a group stage match!

Evening games outdoors with light still in the sky in a mid-summer Alberta? Yes.
I mean that's better than whatever BC Place would have...

As someone familiar with the bid up north, happy to see Edmonton receive that funding! BC Place is a great venue too, but I'm wondering if it's too little too late at this point. We shall see.
Personally, wish it was Calgary that was getting the stadium upgrades though haha... sucks that we can't even be in the conversation for being a host city for FIFA2026. We are so far behind in the quality of our sports facilities (aside from WinSport) it's embarrassing.

Canada playing on the road -as the favorites.
With Canadian flags everywhere.
As they look to finalize their CONCACAF championship with another win, which would boost their already-gotten World Cup ticket to Pot 3.
What. A. Timeline.!

Estaquio disagrees - he said he wants to face Portugal! I'll also have two teams and am looking forward to it.
