Got the new torch = $200 with rebate, 3 year plan. Where is the rebate form on the Rogers site? (they ran out of forms at the store and I can't find it on the web-site).
How can you drag individual songs into torch from iTunes? It only seems to let you pick all the songs by individual artists.

I am getting the Torch from work today or tomorrow. Has anyone tried any apps or games that they would recommend?

Loaded the latest leaked OS6 for my 9700 the other day. Wow... I'm lovin' this new OS. Fast, responsive, neat layout and the web browser, when needed, is a LOT better than OS5.
It's like having a new phone.

I'm torn. I just signed a 3 year extension with Fido this past summer and upgraded to the 3GS (I kept waiting for an Iphone 4 announcement, but needed a phone quick). I just called FIDO a few days ago and talked to loyalty and retentions. They reduced my plans by almost $30/month and added things to it so I'm happy. Cut it down from ~$85 to ~$55 per month.
I'm starting a business in a week or so. I'm thinking of going with a Blackberry Torch to use as my business phone while I keep the Iphone more for personal. My emailing is working fine on my Iphone, but I still like the BlackBerry emailing better and BBM would be handy for me. My brother bought a Torch a little while ago and it looks pretty good. I used to have a Bold before the Iphone.
Decisions decisions.....

I was thinking of getting a Torch as early as this afternoon. How are the Torch users on this site liking it so far? Any regrets?

I did the same a few weeks ago, very impressed. Few minor things that bug me, but overall very happy with it.

I thought about the torch as well but went the way of the Iphone. Personally I like the Bold more than the Torch simply for the look, and size. My buddy is the one that talked me out of the torch saying it is way too bulky and heavy and he just switched from a Bold.

For work I prefer the Blackberry, however I would love the bigger screen of the Torch for web browsing. Between my wife and two kids I never get to touch the computers at my house.

i was really debating a Torch as i've been waiting for a full touch screen smart phone with a full QWERTY keyboard for awhile, but then as soon as i saw the HTC Desire Z i had to have it. from my experience with our work Blackberry Bold, i really prefer the Android interface. has the Torch made a huge upgrade in that regard to other Blackberries? i've read a few reviews for it, and they seem to echo my belief that the Torch is an improvement for the BB line, but still lacking when compared to other smartphones

Makes perfect sense why the Torch might be the phone for you. I do think for email and texting is far superiour on the berry. I have learned to live with the touch screen texting on the iphone but do miss the qwerty keyboard.

I love my Torch so far. Granted, its my first Blackberry, and first smartphone in general.
I do a tonne of texting and emailing on it, and I love it.

Alright all you BB users... I have had an iphone 3GS for over a year now and have loved it since day one. I have had various ipods for years and my favourite thing about the phone is the combo of the phone and ipod.
But recently I have been intrigued by the new BB bold and got a first hand look at the new OS6 software. I think that the new BB operating system beats the current iphone OS. I think it's awesome that you can control the network settings by clicking the top area of the phone, as well as hiding icons you don't use. I am also suffering from a bit of BBM jealousy since almost everyone I know have BB's, and the best part about it is that you can message each other with only a wifi connection.
I will probably be able to renew my contract and get a new phone within the next year or so and had a few questions for BB users.
- Has anyone here switched from an iphone to a BB, and if so, what were the pros and cons you found from switching?
- How is the BB music player? Is it comparable to having an ipod or do most of you have a BB for a phone and an ipod for music?
- I was also curious about the email functionality. I have a shaw email account and on my iphone I have to set it up to check my account every 30 mins for new mail. Do BB's support push email for all mail accounts, or is it only for specific ones? (Like the @telusblackberry email accounts)
Thanks

I have a Bold 9000, and quite honestly the music player is almost acceptable and the video player sucks pretty bad. I use my iPod nano for both those things, which is good because then my phone battery doesn't get raped but bad because I don't want to carry 2 things, especially since it means I miss the occasional call with my headphones in.

iPhones suck, but this is one thing they have right... the music player in iOS out of the box spanks both BB and Android combined. Alot of people hate iTunes and rightly so, but it's pretty easy to use.

New to BB and Smartphones in general. Got the Bold 9700 on Wind, not sure if I'm gonna keep it or sell and buy an Android (I'm eyeing the Desire Z).
For you experienced BB users, do you get the Google Maps message that "My location is temporary unvailable" alot, even with A-GPS turned on? Is Google Maps even getting A-GPS data?

You wouldn't be able to use a Desire Z on Wind because of the frequencies... you'd need a T-Mobile G2 from the US which is essentially the same thing.

Anybody know a site that I can download apps/themes for the Torch besides "crackberry.com"?
I've seen some pretty awesome themes like the HTC revolution and the HTC desire themes for the BB Torch, but you have to pay for those which I might have to do. Pretty new to the BB myself since I use to own most of the HTC's.

I use my BB Pearl (I know, ancient!) for music. Does the trick, maybe not quite as user friendly as an iPod but when my iPod died it beat buying a new one and carrying around two devices.

Push email should work for all accounts
Thanks

BB's big draw back is the browser. iPhone and Android users browse like mad, BB users hardly use the internet.

Previous to OS 6, I'd agree. Like night and day now, webpages load and render just as fast, smooth and accurate as IOs. Tabbed browsing, touchscreen works great, and, with the Torch, the duplication in pointing devices with the track pad make it easier to click to those small links that any touchscreen (BB or Iphone) make it hard to do without zooming in.
Coming from a Storm, a massively huge improvement there with speed and navigation...and coming from a Storm, I couldn't give up a big screen..plus wanted the physical keyboard (which is the same as the Bold 9780's) back.
Don't use as a music player, or video player...and even if I did, for music, it would be put on shuffle just like my ipod is, so in my case there's not a lot of need for extra functionality.
