I have absolutely no problem with him going to miami. None. He doesn't owe cleveland anything, no more than Bosh owed Toronto, but the way he went about it was just freaking ridiculous and a circus.
The best/worst part of all this is if he goes on to win 5 championships in a row with Bosh and Wade he'll never be Jordan. If he wanted to be Jordan he should have gone to Chicago, NY, NJ or stayed in CLeveland, got his boys and battled Bosh and Wade every year in the Eastern Conference Finals. Instead he said "I can't do this by myself, I need Dwade to carry me".
And as has already been mentioned, Bosh is the biggest lottery winner in all of this. He's good, but not great and a great complimentary piece (like Gasol) but he's not Kobe, Lebron, Wade, or Durant and maybe Melo. Plus the fact he hired a documentary camera crew to follow him around and all his twitter bullsnot makes me hate him more.
As much as I dislike Kobe Bryant, he's more Jordan than Lebron will ever be. God, Jordan was good.

The show was so stupid but I think of the millions going to kids and it makes me feel a little better

Forgive me - my point may have been unclear. What he could have done, immediately before the special, would have been to make a call to the Cavs, because he made it clear he just called Miami immediately before. That would have been the adult thing to do in this situation, I think. Just an opinion though.
The millions going to kids was set up because LBJ's 'handlers' (a 25 year old with babysitters, amazing) knew that he'd get absolutely, completely slaughtered and dismembered by the media if that wasn't thrown in. Still, the Boys and Girls Club is getting a bunch of money even though it was only designed to mitigate the damage - but I don't think it helped.

There was a Cleveland sports reporter on Jim Rome this morning and he said that the Cavs did indeed get a call from LeBron right before his TV appearance.

Interesting - I could have sworn LBJ stated during his ego-stroke-amania that he had only called Miami. I thought I heard him specifically say he didn't call the other teams.

With what players?
I can't believe they tried to make a run with the 2 most inconsistent raptors the year before. Parker and Moon suck.

He did say that, but who knows if there was an ounce of truth in it. The infomercial didn't include that part I assume, gotta stay on script.
I'm interested to see what this does to his brand. He's destroyed a lot of goodwill and a lot of credibility. Lots of people across the country want to see him lose. Casting yourself as the villian may get you points in the wrestling world, but villians don't typically become international brands. I think he had an opportunity to move on in a classy way and he decided, or his handlers decided, that it was better to take the most in your face and obnoxious approach possible.
The best news to come out of this whole thing is that I can go back to not caring about the snoozefest that is the NBA until the conference finals roll around next year.

The NBA isn't THAT different than the wrestling world.

as a UFA he certainly has the right to go play wherever he wants. However to rip out Cleveland's heart on live TV was completely unnecessary.
And he's not just going to play ball for the Heat. "He's going to take his talents to South Beach" That hour was all that is wrong in sports. The guy sets up his own hour to celebrate himself, crap on his home state and old team and try to put a sugary coating on it by giving some money to kids.
I'm sure his handlers thought they were going to build his image last night but I think they trashed it.

Saw this quote in Bill Simmons' article over ESPN today and it summed up the whole experience for me:
"You know how happy Carrie looked at the prom? And when the pig's blood was dumped on her you couldn't help but empathize? And when she went on her rampage you were actually kinda rooting for her? That's how I feel about the city of Cleveland right now."

Kobe whined his way their in his draft year, forced Shaq out and then a few years later demanded to be traded, only not to be traded because whatever team he went to would be depleted of any talent since it would be going to LA.
If anything, Kobe should appreciate the fact that he's lucky to be in an LA market on one of the two marquee NBA franchises where people want to play.

I dont see what the big deal is. He took less money to win a championship. Now look at it this way. If Crosby or Ovi took less money to come to Calgary to win a championship would we be saying the same thing? NO we wouldn't.

But everyone else would. That's beside the point. It's a cheap way of going about doing things. He took less money from the point of years in his contract...he still took a max deal per year. They can't possibly meet the expectations on the team, and with them being all buddy-buddy these days, with everything going great for them, they really have to work hard. I'm thinking Lebron will be the laziest with many nights taken off with Wade scoring most consistently. Bosh will be the fall guy if anything doesn't go well, because simply, he's the follower in the group. I don't wanna wish any bad-will on anyone, but I'm really hoping this team and their relationships crash and burn. No way you can have two athletes like James and Wade, and a "Rupaul" in Bosh making a max contract, and jealousy would eventually take over when someone doesn't produce and isn't earning his paycheque. Interesting times ahead indeed.
