Go Warriors Go!!

As much as it may seem like sour grapes at this point, the Warriors really aren't putting up a huge fight. They've been the better team for about ten minutes of one period, that's it. Bosch was amazing in game one and the Warriors were greatly aided by the officiating, but the Hitmen have missed at least six wide open nets so far this series that they would have buried easily last week. Between that and their lazy stupidity in the first last night, Moose Jaw is now up 2-0. This is why games aren't played on paper though. Doesn't matter how much better you look than your opponent if you are going to play like idiots. Meanwhile, the Warriors are doing the only thing they can: wait for someone else to hand then glorious chances. And they are doing that perfectly.

Have to disagree, the Warriors are snuffing out the Hitmen style of play perfectly. Give them some credit.
The Hitmen don't like cycling underneath, they are a team that loves to feed the points and generate their offense from there. The Warriors are playing tight point and taking that pass away. The Hitmen don't feel like competing on the boards down low and are either firing into the goalie's crest from the blueline or trying the extra fancy pass across the crease instead of throwing pucks on goal and outnumbering the Warriors in front of the net.
The Warriors are blocking shots, taking away the Hitmen's bread and butter, being opportunistic of their chances, capitalizing on shaky goaltending, and taking advantage of some horrible officiating.
Good on them and their coach, they are playing this series perfectly.

I don't see how you can call being outshot 50-16 in the first game despite having the refs in their back pocket for the first two periods "snuffing us out perfectly". Even last night, most of our problems were self inflicted. Too much poor passing, and too many passengers on the ice. And, as I said, we're missing wide open shots that we buried during the season. That has absolutely nothing to do with how Moose Jaw is playing.

It seems like they are playing not to lose, rather than playing to win. Another big thing I noticed is that guys aren't doing their jobs. In game 2, Broda would get a pass that he would normally fire on net, and in that game he was passing it to someone else. I have no idea what to say about what's going on.
And that interference call on Stone...that was the most ridiculous penalty I think I've seen all year...

Oh it's true the Hitmen have missed chances but you can turn that around and say perhaps they are gripping the sticks tight because they are reacting instead of initiating, and feeling the pressure of being the heavy favourite while Moose Jaw is an relaxed as can be, playing to their game plan, getting some luck, and feeding off it.
The Hitmen blew a ton of teams out this year, they are not used to fighting for their lives. We will see what kind of pushback they generate in games 3 and 4. They need to win both.

I haven't seen that call much in the WHL, but definitely in the NHL. It's a pretty weak call, but the puck was five feet away. The holding call we took on their partial break was what bothered me, since it was a Moose Jaw hook that created that chance.
And Broda has been pretty bad this series. Stebner too.

It wasn't pretty but for the most part a much better effort by the Hitmen tonight in a 7-3 win in Moose Jaw. Warriors lead the series 2-1. Game 4 tomorrow night.

Only heard about 10 minutes of the first and 10 minutes of the third, but I did hear a lot of "there's a high hit from Moose Jaw, no call" and "there's a late hit from Moose Jaw, no call" out of Curle. Especially late in the third it sounded like the Warriors chose to behave like a goonshow. Hopefully their frustration continues into tonight.

I heard a bit about that on the parts of the Hitmen game I heard last night. I hadn't read up on it and given the score, I figured the Rebels started it. What the hell did you guys do to cause four Blades players to take instigators? Was Cowen's charging major that bad?
Five Blades suspended against one for Red Deer? And I don't expect they will stagger the suspensions, will they? They just lost a quarter of their team!

Ya...part of the message is that you shouldn't put all your bruisers out to finish a game (which I agree with) but that you can run a goalie several times in a game (which I disagree with completely).

Cowen got four games for running the goalie. I wouldn't say that they are saying that at all. Pretty much run the goalie and your season is over. That's a stiff penalty actually.
The Blades suspensions are their own fault. The officials warned both coaches not to try anything when the game resumed. Molleken decided to ignore them. Stupid stupid move. They could have waited until game three to exact revenge. Cowen would still have received a tough penalty and the Rebels would have gone home with their tails firmly between their legs. The Blades sent them home with fires in their bellies. I don't get it.

The Hitmen are in huge trouble in MJ tonight. Jason Bast scores on a breakaway after the puck jumps over Matt MacKenzie's stick at the MJ blue line. With the Warriors on the power play, MJ dumps it in it hits something and then goes off of Jones and in the Hitmen net. Joel Broda cut the lead in half but the Warriors added another goal before the end of the first period. 3-1 MJ after 1.
I seriously do not know what has happened to the Hitmen in their own zone. The Warriors have everything going their way, all the bounces are ending up in the Hitmen net. The game and series is far from over but you really have to wonder if it just isn't meant to be for the Hitmen this year.

You gotta wonder if the Rebels goalies may be put through the boards by some scrub if the next game gets out of hand.
