Cable didn't play chicken when he went for it on 4th and 15 for the lead (although the Raiders subsequently fell back into prevent defense).
Am I missing a reference to another thread or something about NFL coaches being chicken or many NFL coaches being terrible? This must be your 10th post stating as much... if it's a joke, I want in.

He didn't go for 4 and 15 to take the lead, he was just trying to get a first down to eventually kick a FG, the play just opened up because of blown coverage. I wouldn't call going for it on 4 and 15 with less than 2 minutes left and only 2 timeouts that gutsy. He didn't really have much choice. I always prefer a team go for it on 4th down and whatever rather than punting it away and maybe not getting it back.
Yeah I agree with you, I hate prevent defenses.
It's not a joke it's my observation that most NFL coaches don't have a clue and I'll continue to point it out. As I mentioned in other posts, I like the strategy of football almost as much as the action itself and seeing this coaches constant screw it up is frustrating to me.
You can read posts from others saying how unprepared and basly coached SD is. All that wasted talent.

Nobody wants to make a mistake and lose their job. Look how much turn around there is for NFL coaches now days. Coaches get fired after they go 14-2.

I guess so but that's just one example. SD went from a coach who can't win in the playoffs to one who can't win in the regular season.
I agree there's too much turnover. I like teams like Philly and Tennessee who stick with their good coaches through thick and thin.

Two best punters in the game battled last night. Lechler is the best punter the NFL has seen since Ray Guy.

The guy is a total head case. Hopefully they can pick up a decent RT in next year's draft and then just cut Andrews loose. He's not worth it anymore.

You need to watch coach Payton from the Saints. That guy is a bit too much of a gambler. He's lost a few games trying to go for the throat.
Following Payton and the Saints along with Les Miles at LSU makes life a bit more exciting!

I don't mind that actually. I'd rather coaches gamble more than play it safe.
LSU's my favorite college team It's mostly cause I like saying Baton Rogue.

Well they had to make a couple roster moves to make room for Vick who was activated by the Eagles today and can start prectising tomorrow, and for Garcia who will also be at practice tomorrow.
they also released Hank Baskett today.

Lame. I would've rather seen Reggie Brown gone. Baskett is a terrific special teams player and can make some plays in the redzone. I wouldn't be suprised to see a team like the Cowboys pick him up.

They released Baskett because he's a non-vested veteran.
I'd love him to come back to the Vikings....but we just signed the mythically good Greg Lewis.

Yes I know....why we released Bobby Wade for him is completley beyond me.
Although I know Childress has a hard on for all ex-Eagles.

Yeah, the reason we even had Baskett is because Childress is a moron and liked Billy McMullen.

Don't remind me.....we (the fans) really liked the signing of Baskett as an UDFA, he even showed good things in training camp. Then he get's traded for a useless tit....all beacuse this useless tit was "familiar with the offense".
GREAT, so we got a guy who knows the offense, but can't play football. He's the equivalent of ME!

Bills fans completely cross the line after they vandalize Mckelvins lawn following his late fumble against the Patriots.
Quote:
Bills players are concerned with their privacy and safety after the front lawn of a home belonging to cornerback Leodis McKelvin was vandalized following Buffalo's season-opening loss to New England.
Hamburg police on Tuesday confirmed the home of a Bills player was vandalized, but declined to release details of their investigation after an obscenity and the score of Monday night's game -- a 25-24 loss to the Patriots -- were painted in white on the player's lawn in suburban Buffalo.

ESPN power rankings are out...and much like hockey rankings a couple head scratchers included.
How do the 49ers rank behind Arizona when they just beat them in Phoenix???
