I think the way this draft is going, it'll be rare for someone to step over the next pick. The TV and Movie drafts were more predictable than this thing has been. I'd even think that if you're in the 'three' in the title, you're safe to pick, but it's just a suggestion...
Being that I live pretty much on the other side of the world, 12 hours might be tricky. Maybe 16 hours? I think that's what was used in the movie draft. Seemed fine.
It may have allowed DFF to get his pick in this morning before work too. Now, he likely won't be on until evening.

I think with the movie draft there was a much more defined standard (albeit, still very blurry and in the eye of the beholder) about what "good" movies remained on the board.
With this draft, and especially with some of the picks we've seen so far, I think if someone is AK'ed and has 3 or 4 people pick in front of his/her spot, it's quite unlikely that person's pick would be stolen out from under them, and much less likely than in the movie draft. Music taste seems to be so much more subjective and there is such a wide range in genres. Even within genres.
I shall not be AK'd like my fine Texan friend Sowa. Pick is forthcoming everyone!

With my next pick, I'm happy to select in the category of LIVE ALBUM, Dave Matthews Band - The Central Park Concert.
Shameful admission: I used to hate live albums. Why? Because I heard a few, thought they sucked and dismissed the rest. In my teens I had become resigned to the fact that studio music could not be duplicated, and more importantly improved upon, in a live setting. What a maroon!
This is my favorite of all my live albums. I don't own that many, but this one is exquisite IMO. I also own the DVD and I never get tired of watching/listening to it. Live music is what made DMB what it is, and it's not hard to see why when you listen to this record.
I plan on expanding this portion of my collection greatly in the near future. It's tough though because I get hung up on certain bands and want all the live stuff I can get my hands on from that band. With the way DMB and Pearl Jam put out live records I may find myself with a boatload of live music from very few bands!

"Misery" (Richie Supa) featuring Steven Tyler – 4:33
"Dear Diary" (Perry, Pink) – 3:29
"Eventually" (Perry, Pink) – 3:34
"Lonely Girl" (Perry) featuring Linda Perry – 4:21
"Numb" (Austin, Pink) – 3:06
"Gone to California" (Perry, Pink) – 4:34
"My Vietnam" (Perry, Pink) – 5:19
As I've stated before, the artists I enjoy have more than the pipes in their voice. There's passion, pain, struggle, hope, and raw emotion when it comes to this album. I wouldn't consider it one of the all time bests, but when it came to the POP category, it was either her, or Justin Timberlake... I crap you not.
The deciding factor came in the form of two songs on this album. "Just Like A Pill" is so calm, and yet so intense at the same time, you don't know where she's going with the song, talking about taking pills, and life support, while tying it all into her love affair.
But "Family Portrait" is absolutely amazing. Knowing a little of her background, it's almost Pink's way of calling out her family for what she had to go through. Again, the pain and anguish in her voice tells most of the story. I've never heard anyone fake the cadence, the rasp, the passion that Pink delivers in this song.
The rest are Top 40 fodder... "Get The Party Started", "Don't Let Me Get Me". Nothing to see here.
I haven't heard it in a while, but "My Vietnam" is up there when it comes to the passion that I'm looking for in an artist.
From wiki: After Can't Take Me Home P!nk wanted to have control over her own music. She stated that: "All the girls that came out in the last couple of years, we all got thrown into one bucket. I don't want people to throw me in that bucket."[2] She recruited 4 Non Blondes singer Linda Perry to help her with writing a new album. According to Pink in VH1 Driven she left a message on Perry's answering machine after finding her number in make-up artist Billy B's phone book, saying she wanted to write with her.[2] The reason that she wanted to write with Perry was: "Bigger, Better, Faster, More!" was one of my favorite albums, and I used to sit on the corner in Doylestown with my two friends that played guitar,"
I caught a live performance by Pink in Wembley Stadium, on HDNet, and it was amazing to see her cover 4 Non Blonde's "What's Up?". Such respect for Linda Perry.
(Looks like BMG doesn't like embeding of their videos... so we're going live with these)
^^ No way, man. Just Like A Pill, Don't Let Me Get Me and Get The Party Started are awesome songs!
While they may not be on the same level as something the Beatles or Zeppelin did, I still think they're hella catchy.
Edit: I love the Linda Perry influence on this album, too. I remember reading that when it first came out, and it was one of the reasons I gave it a serious chance.
Edit: You need to switch your first two videos, though. They no workie (probably unembeddable).
For our 4th round pick, team Twist/Shout picks One from the Heart (1982) by Tom Waits (w/ Crystal Gayle) in the Jazz / Classical category.
Made for a Francis Ford Coppola film by the same name, which crashed horribly in the box office. The soundtrack however received an Oscar nomination, after which it has been somewhat forgotten, or so I've been told.
This is my favourite Tom Waits album.
All tracks written by Tom Waits.
"Opening Montage (Tom's Piano Intro/Once Upon a Town/The Wages of Love)" – 5:16 (Instrumental)
"Is There Any Way Out of This Dream?" – 2:13
"Picking up After You" – 3:54
"Old Boyfriends" – 5:53
"Broken Bicycles" – 2:53
"I Beg Your Pardon" – 4:26
"Little Boy Blue" – 3:43
"Instrumental Montage (The Tango/Circus Girl)" – 3:00
"You Can't Unring a Bell" – 2:20
"This One's from the Heart" – 5:45
"Take Me Home" – 1:37
"Presents" – 1:00 (instrumental)
Old Boyfriends (vocals by Crystal Gayle)
Broken Bicycles (vocals by Waits himself)
This Ones From the Heart (a duet by Waits and Gayle)
I have a question. The rules state that you can only pick the same artist once, but can you pick an artist once for a solo album but then pick them again if they're on an album that's a collaboration? (i.e. someone picks "Harvest" by Neil Young and then picks "Mirror Ball" which is technically an album by Neil Young and Pearl Jam)
