It is really disappointing that they decided to put the new stadium there. It's also a shame about the attendance overall since the team is really good and competitive most years.
I went to a game there in 2015 (against the Jays). Some of my takeaways:
* I was staying in Tampa and, man, was it ever far away. $40 Uber if I remember right. Probably quite a bit more now since that was 8 years ago
* Oddly, even though it's kind of in downtown St. Pete (I think?) there wasn't a lot open in terms of grabbing a bite to eat or drink before the game. I found a decent sandwich place but it also closed at 6 PM even though the game was at 7.
* First pitch of the first game, Jose Reyes swung and missed and his bat flew into the stands and crippled a guy who had to go to the hospital a few rows below me
* I remember telling myself I wanted to try some of the concessions after the sixth inning (since I ate before the game). There was a grilled cheese stand that I eyed up but I was surprised to see that it was closed already at that point in the game
* I think it was Osuna's first-ever save with the Jays or one of his first
