I'm sure he's listening to "You Oughta Know" and feeling like a piece of crap.

What to do with Huberdeau? Hope he retires now because Tkachuk is in the finals.

Hopefully it motivates him. I don't think he would ever be the impact player Tkachuk is, but if he can at least rack up points, it helps in the regular season.

Huberdeau is getting a fresh start next year with a clean slate and hopefully a chip on his shoulder. It makes sense to be optimistic about him because he bottomed out last year. Seeing his former team go to the finals and the player he was traded for be the key skater leading the way must sting. With Sutter gone and a new positive vibe around the Flames I am hopeful he takes this all as fuel for his 2024 redemption tour.

Connie says Huby is a proud guy getting his swagger back. That's good to hear.
Huby doesn't need to match #19 - he can't.
He needs to focus on putting up a bunch of points every year for the duration of his contract Flames will really need that production.
And remember it was him, Weegar, Schwindt and a pick that were traded for #19. They will all play a role in deciding who won the trade and how lop-sided it will be.

I'm curious how one gets his swagger back sunning himself by the pool?
It will be interesting to see how Hubby starts the season. A good start by Hubby could go a long away with determining the Flames fortunes this year.

I am not giving Huderdeau a clean slate. 10.5 million dollar players for 8 years. If we struggles five games into the season I am going to boo him when he touches the puck.

If he still has a place in Florida, maybe he can hang with Tkachuk bit and get some cool lessons from him.

Hold on to your butt then lol, he is a notoriously slow starter.

Booing in October after five games? Yikes. That's kind of embarrassing as a fan.

I was hammered for suggesting the Flames did not have a clear idea what they were getting in Huberdeau and questioning the amount of diligence done on him. In my view they seemed star struck by 115 regular season points.
Another member posted a good video in the FLA thread about Maurice's changes, including avoiding risky zone entries (eg. cross-ice passes) in favour of safe dump-ins and puck recovery. Funny, in the video a few examples of the last year's plays to be avoided showed Huberdeau making bad decisions that resulted in loss of possession.

Let's be real after the season he just had. If he doesn't do anything in October, the fans will be on him pretty hard, especially after what Matthew has done.

No offense but I don’t think Huberdeau cares what one or a few fans will say/do but I was talking more so with the organizational changes it is truly a fresh start. He ended last season and will begin next season with Calgary so he knows exactly what he is getting into with the market. The clean slate comes from Sutter and Treliving being gone and the offensive approach Conroy wants the team playing which is the style where Huberdeau has found success.
Giving the guy 5 games to get it right or you boo is just a toxic opinion.

Seems pretty extreme to me. It's going to be a long season if booing starts in October and I'm not exactly sure that's going to help players with their confidence or make this a market where players want to play. If we are going to sink to Oiler fan levels what's next? Tossing jerseys on the ice?

What are you talking about Tree called a drunk Markstrom at 2am in Sweden to ask if Huby was a good guy. What more dye diligence could you want?

I agree, my opinion is toxic as hell. That said, when a player takes 10.5 million for the next 8 years, they are taking an enormous amount of responsibility for the teams success. With that they take fans expectations.

It's going to be a long 8 years if Huberdeau is actually a 55 point player.

82 games where he and other players hated coming to work every morning because the head coach lost his mind. He's starting year 1 of an 8 year deal and you have preconceived notions of booing him after five games. Think about that.

What is with the 55 point player crap like holy crap do people just forget what this guy has done his entire career? This isn't a bum.
Its so frustrating reading hes not good or a star blah blah. Go do some research take out last year and the 115 point season and hes still a .85 point player and that includes a 31 point rookie season and 28 point sophomore season.
He is a lot closer to being a 100 point player.
