Don't be shocked if you are pulled over and told to turn around. From friends and family in and around impacted areas local RCMP have stepped up the "essential" travel only rule. My mother in law and her husband are driving around in a vehicle registered to Chilliwack while they live in Merrit and have been stopped several times this week alone. Their vehicle was lost in the floods and are driving the husband's brother's truck.
The #3 is especially being enforced around Hope to Princeton. A friend tried to go to Tulameen on Monday to help with a friends cabin and they were turned around in Hope. It is sporadic like anything else but the potential is there.

#99/Duffy too, is under the Essential Travel only order. I wanted to Whistler, then onto Van. Looks like it'll be Seattle, Baker then onto Van. Anyone driven to Van via USA lately? I90?

Good, hopefully they keep up the enforcement. Supply chain is still a mess from this.

Very impressive turnaround by the BC government. That being said, it's probably not going to be a fast or smooth drive if you try to make your way to the lower mainland for the holidays by vehicle so I'd still consider alternate routes like going through the US or flying there if you can.
Holy ####, awesome news! Was planning the trip out to visit family for the holidays and the border crossing seemed a bit sketch with Omicron. Now I can drive a snail’s pace the first couple evenings while skiing each day and just plan to be in Kamloops Tuesday when the highway re-opens!

Yeah definitely try and fly if you're going that way. It's cheap too, I'm going to Vancouver in February and it's $70 each way.
I've been bitching at a mail order furniture company that has a no refund unless its broken policy on its 3000 dollar leather couch and I wont drop 3 grand on something I can only see on a web page but that is cheap enough I might just fly to Calgary where their one showroom is and come back on the same day!!

Snoqualmie pass (I 90), is the main pass for east-west travel. It was closed down last week due to many vehicles spinning out after a heavy snowfall.
At the same time Canada is bringing back its requirement for Canadians and permanent residents who travel abroad for less than 72 hours to get a negative COVID-19 test before returning to Canada. That rule was dropped in November amid pushback from business, tourism, and travel groups.
Mr. Duclos said the pre-entry testing requirement will take effect on Dec. 21 and travellers must take the test in a country other than Canada.
One answer is maybe they don't, but there were lots of houses in those videos.
I'm not sure if it's 'lots', but definitely some...
Between the decommissioned railway and logging roads perhaps they can patchwork access to the necessary spots.
It probably doesn't need to be a full-blown highway anymore. It would be really interesting to get satellite shots of all of these areas in BC at their most damaged.
